Has anyone weighed them? They have contadicting figures everywhere. I've found the hunters work best for me, Are they 7.7. 8.3 ?? What about the others.
-
In every gun I've tested, the Hunters are faster than Gamo Match pellets, and the Match are faster than CPL's. Can't imagine that the Hunters are any heavier than 7.5gr, and probably lighter.

Hey Dan,
I have compiled the weights and dimensions of as many pellets as I can find, many variations exists within the same pellet, so mush of my time has been waster checking this out !
The Gamo pellets are listed as:
Pro Mag-7.8 grs.
Tomahawks-8.5 grs.
Master Point-7.9 grs.
Magnum Point-8.5 grs.
Hunter- 8.3 grs.
Rockets- 9.6 grs.
These weights vary from pellet to pellet and tin to tin !

I remember seeing a vendor listing Hunter pellets at 7.something gr, but I don't remember who it was.
-
The two tins of Gamo pellets I have sitting in front of me say:
Gamo Hunter 0.49grams or 7.56 grains
Gamo Match 0.5 gram or 7.71 grains
I have no scale to prove or disprove this claim, but that is what the tins say:)

It's the New Packaging and new numbers thats got me screwed up !!http://www.gamousa.com/Catalog.aspx?Family=44 (http://www.gamousa.com/Catalog.aspx?Family=44)
7.56 is what my Hunters say but if you look at Gamo's new packaging with what appears to be the same exact pellet inside their new website claims 8.3 grainshttp://www.gamousa.com/Catalog.aspx?Product=177 (http://www.gamousa.com/Catalog.aspx?Product=177)
The magnums that I have say 7.87 Gamos new packaging says 8.4 Again same pellet.insidehttp://www.gamousa.com/Catalog.aspx?Product=75 (http://www.gamousa.com/Catalog.aspx?Product=75)
The 7.7 match is 7.5,http://www.gamousa.com/Catalog.aspx?Product=77 (http://www.gamousa.com/Catalog.aspx?Product=77)
And I actually had a transition pack in my hand last night at Dicks that said one thing on the packaging under the blister pack and another on the tin itself? New packaging old pellet tin?
I don't have a grain scale but I do have a gram scale so I weighed the tins old and new subtracted the tin itself multiplied to get gram to grains then divided by 250 and came up with yet another number!!! :emoticon:

BTW Gene if you read this, the emoticons dont work! Haven't for a while.:) :) :p 8) 8) 8) :emoticon: :emoticon:

Dan: Like you, I became frustrated over the lack of or inaccurate pellet weight info. Solved the problem by buying a digital scale at Harbor Freight for $17.99 (Cen-Tec brand). This scale is sometimes on sale for $10 or $11.99 and measures in grams, drams, ounces.... From every tin I take a random sample of at least 20 pellets and weigh them, getting a result in grams. I multiply the gram result by 15.4321 then divide by the number of pellets weighed. Any error is less than 5%. I never weigh a tin of pellets - just because the label says 250 or 500 does NOT mean there is and I am not going to count them all. As far as Gamo pellet weight changes - Possibly new molds, new molding contractor, change in alloy, etc. - any number of reasons.
-
I just weighed some Gamo Hunters and with my scale I get 7.515 gn. I weighed them before with same results... FN
The Gamo Match weigh in at 7.77 gn....weighed just now.....
-
I've got a whole lotta Tomahawks, and I've weighed quite a few. So far I've found that they can swing from 7.71gr ~ 8.12gr. The average is 7.8gr ~ 7.9gr. The best way I have found to shoot them is to sort them by weight, since their weight is so variable. Then the groupings get better.
-
Just did a search for (Digital grain scale) on e-bay and came up with 200+ so I bought one for $7.99 & $9 shipping. We'll see.
-
Well Dan, they worked for me.. :D ... Check your post above where you told me they did not work..hehe Maybe u aint holding your tongue just right.. :)

These two scales are accurate down to 1 milligram. You weigh in milligrams, take the result and convert to grains. I have the 20 gram version which is accurate down to 2 milligrams. Works most excellent for me....
