I had a problem with some unamed pest birds on my house this morning and bagged two of them with the Lightning XL. They are safely tucked away in a plastic grave.
The avian fauna is lively this morning. I heard this big fellow crowing in the Spanish olive tree in my back yard. He was perched up in the tree about 20-25' up, 25 yard shot from my back door. I shot him with a quick, off hand shot and knocked him out of the tree. He was hidden behind a shed in my neighbor's back yard. I went out to find him, downed but not finished. Put a coup de gras shot in him from 15 yds. Wow, these big fellows are tough.

Crows are definitely not easy to bring down. All those layers of feathers act as a pellet-proof vest :)

PS.
I wish I can get 25yds within a crow. The ones around here don't let me get that close.

Harry, this is the first Crow I've gotten in my yard. Most of the time they are 100 + yards away, down the street in their favorite scouting tree.

Same here, they 're always 50+yds away near the neighbor's property, although a miracle happened and I took 2 of them out within 15-20secs from about 30dys out in Feb. and another one 45yds out in January all of which were posted here. Yeah sometimes it goes our way and they don't follow their normal routine or drop their guard for some reason. We must take advantage of it when it happens.
Most of the crows have migrated out of this area (NY) by now and the huting season is over. I have not heard a crow since Thur-Fri. but I enjoy shooting their cousin the Grackle which looks a lot like a crow, just smaller - and of course the pesty yellow beak Starlings.

Grackles are my arch nemisis. When they are in full season here I often have large flocks of them in my yard, mornings and afternoons. I have whacked dozens of them and they keep coming back...........Silly pests. :)
