: I adjusted my 12fpe AA S400C

Down to 7fpe today . Just under 600fps . This is the one I have that is not shrouded . I turned it down in order to qualify for the match class in Airgun Benchrest .It turned out to be a sweeter shooter than it was before. Tamed the report a little too. I haven't chronied a whole fill yet , but it looks like I'll get at least 80-100 shots at this speed . I shot a benchrest round today , using a more difficult USBR Iron sight target . the 9 ring on the proper target is about the size of the 8 ring on the one I shot. Shooting from 25 yards I shot a 224 out of a 250 with 1 X with .The wind was rough at 14 MPH, gusting and swirling to 20. I started shooting with unsorted pellets for 10 of the 25 targets , and dropped 18 points; half of the points I dropped total. Dropped another 18 for the last 15 targets using sorted JSB's. I think I would have scored at least 10-12 more points on the proper target . I've still got a ways to go to be competitive , but it looks like the rifle has a good start in the right direction . I'm starting to enjoy this pursuit of accuracy in my backyard . I may have to build myself a decent bench. kirby

Kirby it sounds like your doing pretty good . Do they have a limit on the power of the scope or is it open to any power .I really looked at the air arms S 200 target before I bought the Discovery are the Air Arms a easy rifle to get parts for and to work on . Marvin

Adjusting the power on this model is as simple as removing a screw that covers another ; a grub screw that when turned in (clockwise )decreases the power and of course , backing out the grub screw increases it. I've never been inside one , yet . But I did watch someone disassemble one at the range once. It didn't look too complicated . From what I understand , about PCP's, is the o-rings could or will go bad eventually , but these can be matched up at a good hardware store . You may get a leak , but this would be due to trash in the air system or a nicked O-ring . Always drain the airtube before disassembly of the internals .. A lot of pressure in the tube. I just checked and there isn't a limit on scope power used . You can shoot any scope no limits on power. I've got a 6.5X20X50 WTC on my purple Classic that I would shot in open class, and a Bushnell Banner 6X24X40 on this rifle. Here's a link to a post that lists the rules except for springer , I'm still looking for the springer rules . http://benchrest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50703 . kirby

Kirby I know you turned down your Disco for the back yard what FPS and shot count did you end up with ? I know you changed springs and I assume you know Mac I has a adjustable hammer spring kit . I thought I might get not to increase my FPS because I'm happy with the FPS now but to may be lower it for next fall and winter when I go back to the 16 yard inside range . Just to get more shoots per fill. Marvin

I changed the spring in mine with a spring that I swapped out of a Crosman 2250 . I was trying to get it down to around 800 fps with JSB's . Since I went back into it and lubed the hammer with dielectric silicone, the FPS went up to 860fps-890fps for 32 shots. Changing the spring , if you'll accept a bigger spread you can get more shots . I can fill to 2000psi and shoot down to 800 and I get 68 shots that range from a low of 746fps to a high of 890fps. The first 20 shots were from 746fps to 810fps but were really quiet for an unshrouded barrel. Shots 21 - 35 went from a low of 810fps -848fps. Shots 36 - 65 I get a low of 856fps to 889fps , this was the sweet spot IMO . The pressure at shot 36 was approx. 1400psi and at shot 65 900psi. I think a hammer spring guide could tighten up the spread a little better and when I get a chance I'm going to try to make one or buy the spring , hammer adjuster , guide kit from Big ED . I'd still may have to get a lighter spring somewhere. kirby

Did you check for POI change when doing the chony numbers and what weight are the JBS advertised at. Marvin

When shooting across the chrony , I use a single aiming spot and I shoot at 18 yards because I have a picnic table there. The group from the whole fill could be covered with a quarter , so at close range the POI wasn't that different . The JSB's are 8.4g. kirby
