Hey Gene,

I have a question if you have a minute, web related.  What's your opinion of IFRAME's?  Do you use them, if so why, if not why?  I have a site I'm working on and the way I layed out the graphics the page content works best if loaded into an iframe.  I can always change it to use standard frames, or just redo the graphics layout a bit, but I really like how I've got it now from an aestetic point of view.  The problem is that I have the standard top header, left nav, bottom nav setup and there is an image of a rifle leaning on the left that connects between the top bar and the bottom.  If content gets too large my graphic will break(my tables will stretch and leave gaps).  If you don't understand my ddilemna I can email a screeshot offlist.  Really I'm just looking for pro's/con's of using the iframe tag.  I definately don't want to restrict viewing of the site to people that can see it.  It looks fine in IE, and also Firefox, haven't tried Netscape yet.  Thanx for your time,

Dan

Hi Dan

I am sorry I missed your post. Iframes work well in developed web pages. I did not start useing them untill later in my career. They were not supported by IE back in the brown shoe days...:) Neither Netscape supported them until after version 6. It always depended on who would be viewing the pages with which browser verson. Mostly I used them when it was an Intranet based site. When all of the systems main browsers were IE. When you get into general use on the Internet then you can run into problems with who supports them.

Now days I would think that all the browsers would support Iframes including Mac's IE versions.

If you need any other info, I would be glad to discuss it with you. By the way your Web Site that I saw looks very professional and is well balanced.

Just my opinion...:)

Thank you for the kind words about the site I'm developing.  Inline frames are something I've stayed away from in the past (because of browser support), but after doing a little reading I couldn't really see any recent browsers that didn't support them.  That's where my question came from,"Why don't I use these, they look ok, is there something I'm missing here?".  Anyways, as you've seen I decided to use them, and after testing in a few browsers I really didn't see any problem.  Thank you for your opinion, it does matter,

Dan

Dan

I am sure no one out there is using the old browsers anymore. You are good to go.
