Finally, good job Tim!! :-)
Good shooting too. Now use the keyboard a little more and tell us about the shoot although pictures say a thousand words :)
Today I 'm having one of those bad days that Jeff had recently. For the first time in 5-6 days Starlings landed in my back yard and 2 Grackles in the front. I go out the back porch quietly, sit on the steps (going down from the 2nd floor porch) just far enough down where I can see under the porch across the other side where 3-4 Starlings are on my lawn. I aim at a Starling 13-14yds out with the 850. I miss! He did keep moving and never stopped so he must 've reposititoned as soon as I squeezed the trigger.
They fly away so I go to the front window. Grackles are still there. Windows are both down, screen and glass so I slowly open the front door and aim at the closest one 11-12yds out. They had no clue I was there because I normally don't go after them through the front door and they were facing away from me. Adjust A/O a little, put the crosshairs at the top of its back, shoot, miss again! I actually saw the feathers at the bottom of its neck move through the glass so I just grazed feathers a little too high from where I was aiming. 2 misses in day with both birds I hate the most and after a dry spell of 5 days! What they hay? I haven't missed a shot in months and that was 35yds shooting at a squirrel's head that was the only thing sticking out/I could see, with open sights. I rushed that shot too because I could see kids coming out with the corner of my eye across the street (I was shooting towards the side downwards to the lawn) and can hear a lot of neighbor activity.. I went back inside and shot 2 clips at 14yds free-hand, 1 clip with CP's, one with CPHP's because I had a mix in that last clip. Dead on target 1/3" CTC so it wasn't the scope, just me shaking I guess from excitement and rushing the shuts. I 'm not used to this.. It's been a long time since that's happened to me so I 'm trying to forget it, but can't, especially when I could probably throw a rock and hit them, they were that close. "One of those days" just happened to me. I thought it only happened to other people :-)

Harry, I've missed at least 6 Grackles over the past couple of years, all were what I thought were easy, done deal shots. Everytime I think "what the heck?" I just chock it up to the fact that I'm not really "Annie Oakley." I take solace in the fact that I'm still ahead, hit a lot more than I've missed......... :)
