Just had an interesting thought. Any opinions on what weight pellet is best for breaking in a new or freshly tuned rifle? I realize that's a pretty wide open question, so how about making the answers both caliber and rifle specific. I just realized, I don't even know if guns other than springers can be or need to be tuned. Even though I own a CFX, I figured this should go here in the general forum, since I hear that there are guns other than Gamo's out there :-). Don't forget the reasons for your opinions.

I never heard of breakin in a springer with any particular pellet. Have heard that you should shoot around a thousand pellets through it to break it in well. At that point you should be shooting at the guns capacity..
Somethin I found out from CDT. He told me not to clean my barrels so dang clean..he he. He said that fps will pic up to a point with lead build up in the barrel. Seems to make a better seal for pellet. He said you will realize at the point when you will have to clean your barrel, thats when the pellets start to stray or fps slows down a bit, but he suggested not to over clean it.

If your goal is to put X number of pellets through a gun to "break it in"
I would probably want to pick a light cheap pellet to prolong spring life and reduce cost.
