: thsixscrews May 06, 2008, 09:58:27 PM
Hey all, was cruising the internet this morning, I know a lil early but what the heck, and I ran accross a rifle that looks almost identical to the CFX.  Was wondering if anyone here knows anything about them, if they are close, the price, etc.........  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanx, here is the link               http://www.kralav.com/airguns.html

Have you found a place to purchase one?  Been looking around on the net, but havent found a place to purchase tho.  It does look alot like the cfx, and I like the camo stock it has, if it was cheap enuff and the stocks were interchangable, it would be worth playing with.  I read the article on the link you posted, but heck, they are all picky about what they eat huh??  Thanx,

Seems to be a pretty rare beast.  Bought mine off the Yellow classifieds a couple weeks ago from a fellow who picked it up at the Roanoke show.  I think Pyramid had some samples they were selling off, cheap.  He did a deburr and lube tune, plus put a JM spring in (something called a Vortex Dulcette).  I don't have a chrony but it seems to shoot about as hard as my stock Crosman 2260.  Guessing 600's?  Don't know what the factory spring produced.

The stock closely copies the CFX in most respects.  The two panels in the forearm are not a soft material, but about as hard as the stock.  I think this was cosmetic, only.  The trigger guard profile is a bit different and the wrist is checkered, not stippled.  Aside from that, it looks like a CFX.  Same loading port, muzzle break, Gamo trigger (don't know if it's adjustable - will have to look), and sights.  It did not come with a scope rail, just the milled grooves.  Metal work is about as good as my S1000.

I've shot it a few times at about ten yards.  It may be pellet fussy like the CFX in that it grouped very well (for me) with some old Crosman wadcutters I had, then not at all with the cheap WalMart Daisy's.  The trigger is stock and stiff, so it ought to do well with a GTX or just adjusting the factory one.  The former owner used a Mendoza peep and said it did very well for him.

I think Pyramid was going to import these.  My guesstimate for pricing would be over $100, especially considering how much the German guns have gone up lately.  If you're looking for spare parts, this would probably be too expensive.  Besides, it's almost too good a copy  to cannibalize.

Ok, just ran about ten of the cheap Crosman pointed pellets through it.  One thing that's been said about the Kral that I agree with is the glo-sights are a bit too small.  It makes it difficult to get a good sight picture.  Gun shot roughly to the same point but printed a decent sized group.  (Again, I'm not much of an offhand shot to start with.)

While I was at it, I looked for a trigger adjustment screw.  The only hole in the guard is at the rear to access what I take to be a large Phillips head takedown screw.  Where you might find a cutout in the bottom of the guard there is a lightly stamped oval with " S<- ->F "  to indicate Safe and Fire for the safety lever.  I am fairly sure that the GTX will drop in.  One thing which has been discussed is Pyramid's use of a Kral to illustrate a CFX with the gas ram installed.  (Guess they were to cheap to cut up a Gamo.)  If that assembly will fit the Kral, I suppose everthing else for the CFX will, as well.  The loading gate and lever look identical, too.

Forgot to mention.  The left side of the reciever is marked "Concorde".

Will post more on this as I find it out.

My Canon digital, which I really love, has gone belly up as the result of a card pin getting bent.  Who would have thought this would, effectively, total out a camera?  I'll take some pics when I get the chance.  Borrow one of the kid's Nikons.  BTW, nice forum here.  Miss you on the "other side".
