Is a Gamo CFX in .22 with JSB predators tough enough to take a prairie dog with a head shot?? I've shot lots of stuff but never anything as big as this. I was just asked to take some p-dogs by a farmer who field is close to town and is perfect for air rifles.

I'd say it's enough to kill a p-dog. I've seen videos of them being shot with .177 rifles and other videos of them being shot with .50 BMG (yes, real .50 cal bullets). I think a .22 should be fine.

Ed (Shadow) took his share of p-dogs before he left S. Dakota. I'm sure he'll chime in and give you some first hand P-dog hunting info :)

Spent alot of time out west of here playing sniper and sneaking up on em. The key is to get in to P-dog city, even a car going by spook's em. Get yourself setup in a nice local, I alway's layed flat out sniper style and be still and wait. They will pop back up, give em time to move from the hole's and take a fusebox shot. I've used a .177 and .22 on em at over 40yrd's, drop's them on the spot. A Predator pellet is the #1 pellt of choice for me, tried the Gamo Hunter's and CHP's , direct hit but lack of penatration at that range let some get to their hole. The Predator has no mercy. there's a pic of em in my ALBUM next to one of my fav babies, Gamo Hunter.22. Good luck and let em get up on their haunches, while their lookin for danger your puttin the crosshair's on em. Ed

Getting close is no problem they are not scared of people at all the place is close to a big cotton mill with people coming and going all the time. If I get some I takes some pics

Yea I saw videos of them getting shot with 50 cal sniper rifles, It was amazing and extremely funny very entertaining!!!

Then cut loose on em with the Predator's:) The one's out west would hide from their own shadow. Ed

I don't think I saw the one with the .50 caliber guns....but I saw another one where the guys shooting them were so far away that the prarie dogs didn't hear the report until three of them were shot....then they started scampering!!! It was macabre in a sort of way....video shows three prarie dogs...left one gets shot and flung backwards, and the middle and right one turns their heads to look in wonderment, right one gets shot and the middle one looks in wonderment...then he/she gets shot and all the other ones took off.
