These two came in to snack in the garden. One at 18 yards the other at about 22. There were three. The first went down so fast (lights out) the others just kept eating. The second gets tagged and the third stooge got out of Dodge quick. They may be little munchers  but I don’t want them growing up on MY garden.   Skip

Good shooting Skip!  Those pics sure look familiar  :)  Maybe you got their moma before like I did..  I thought there were only 3 youngsters at first too because that's all I could see.  Took 2 of them first, then the moma g-hog when the opportunity presented, and the next day the last 2 youngsters.  Keep an eye out for the big male.  He 's around too, but he didn't get to where he is without avoiding people like us :)  I 'm still trying to locate him and learn his habits.  I got a glimse of him twice - early in the morning but he 's very quick and keeps his distance, plus he has a large network of burrows and holes everywhere so he always makes a quick getaway.

Got your PM.  I 'll definitely let you know about a Fall hunt around here since you 're not far away.  I worked in Parsippany and Berkeley Hts for 6yrs so I know exactly where you are.  1hr 10min. away max.  I usually make it to Morristown in about 1hr but I tend to drive a little faster than most  :)  If anything we 'll just make a lot of noise and scare all the critters away but it's always good taking a walk through the woods and getting to meet other fellow GTA members.

Very nice shooting and rifle.  Groundhogs are a pain......making holes all over.....a person could injure themself by stepping into their burrow....that's why they need to be "taken out".  Lucky there's no groundhogs on my property.....or is that unlucky. :o)

I’ll be looking forward to the fall Harry. I might have to look into a shooter in 22 cal for hunting. (Best excuse I got for a new shooter).
Stanley if you’re a little short on groundhogs maybe I could send you some. It seems I got more than I need. My wife told me she saw another big one tonight.

The magic word is "Tonight".....which means you'd need a red dot laser to go with that gun.  Just place the dot on it's forehead or vitals and BAMMM.....lights out for that big one.

And no...I don't want those groundhogs on my property.... thanks anyways.  :o)

G-hogs don't come out at night.  She must 've seen it before it got dark.  They 're usually in their burrow 1hr before the sun sets.
I don't believe their eye sight is good at night either and they have average eye sight during the day, not like a cat or dog.  They 'd be wiped out easily by nacternal predators.  Besides, they are scared of their shadow sort of speak.  They are very jumpy and skiddish animals.
