Hy my friends,
As we discussed earlier, I have put my Gamo Carbine Project (namely GCP) into action and yesterday I purchased a Gamo CF-30 from a friend in Kocaeli. It will arrive tomorrow.
The rifle has maccari spring and been equipped with the custom top head and spring guides I earlier mentioned here. Also a gold trigger replacement has already been done.
The rifle is claimed to have a speed of 600 ft/sec with H&N Diabolo Baracuda's (measured with Combro chronograph) by the seller and this value has been approved by another friend who has done the measurement with his Prochoronograph. So it is reliable.
Now the project is making a rifle of 40 inches total length. For this purpose I plan to cut the barrel for a length of 12 inches and shorten the stock by 1 inches at most.
I want to take the paint of the stock and repolish, wax it or have a new synthetic stock for it. I hate stocks which shows the breaking point of the barrel; I prefer it being kept inside the stock.
So do you know which other Gamo stocks are suitable (fits OK) for CF-30? I may purchase one from the Turkish distributor maybe.
What is your global opinion about this project ?
Thanks in advance.

Looked up your project rifle on the Gamo International site. Nice looking rifle. There are quite a few Gamo models that are available in Europe that I would like to have access to here in the USA, particularly in .22 caliber. I guess my comments on your project are, if you do cut your barrel down could you end up eliminating any choke that may be built into the barrel and ruin your accuracy? Reusing the front sight and locking mechanism with a shortened barrel and cocking lever should be a interesting challenge also. If the weight specs are close on the Gamo site I think you have a very nice shooter the way the rifle comes. With a tune and a CDT trigger I know I would be happy. Good luck with your project.
