Just got my July 2008 copy of American Rifleman magazine (NRA publication). Nice write-up of Gamo airguns "Not just for kids!". They lightly touch on the Whisper, Varmint Hunter and Shadow Express shotgun. Good read, check it out.

The July issue of American Hunter (sister mag) has a "review" of the Gamo Whisper by Monte Burch. Reads like a paid rep for Gamo. Loses credibility when he touts  accuracy data of  PBA ammo and  a drop of only 2" @ 75 yards.

There are 'puppets' everywhere, and real credibility is a rare cumodity these days. It's all about marketing and money. You can thank corporate greed and out-sourcing to the decline in quality control AND consumer confidence in products imported to the US that were made in the US 10 or 20 years ago?!??!? Luckily "we", the consumer,  have the internet to help us make the best comparisons of the 2nd rate crap we're forced to purchase these days!!! An added plus is that major manufacturers (importers now), can't hide behind the vieil of "oh I guess we're out of touch" with the American consumer. The computer age is too fast for such BS. The American public is getting wiser every day, and that scares big corporations, because they'll one day realize that people will smarten up and quit believing the garbage that main-steam media dishes out, their profits will decline, and that they will one day be out-sourced by companies that "listen and provide" to what the purchaser wants,....QUALITY!!!! Might cost more, but quality comes at a premium too. Here's a scary factoid,.....China is starting to out-source it's low tech industries now (textiles, housewares, etc.).  One more thing to add to the "doom and gloom" scenario of this thread,....Honey bee's are vanishing!,...thus no pollenation,...no food supplies to feed the masses. We'll all starve to death before ?quality" comes back into vogue. That's just the tip of the iceberg. In the mean time everyone, Happy Shooting!! LOL's!, tjk
PS Sorry, just letting out a little steam

Hmmm, did I miss something here? Or is just me having a senior moment.(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif) I thought this thread was about the Gamo article in the American Rifleman. I am always amazed on how a thread can take a LEFT turn on a subject. However, I know that we still have the First Amendment (which at times seems to be threatened) in this country and weare all free toexpress our views..(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-sealed.gif) But why can’t we keep the discussion on the subject at hand. Now there I go – off subject! Ok, I admit that I am a right-wing-gun-nut, Pennsylvania transplant who now proudly resides in the Bible belt. By the way, I enjoyed the article. So there!(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

...a 2" drop occurs in about 1/10th of a second. In order for the pellet to cover 75 yards in 1/10th of a second it has to average something over 2000fps for the entire trip to the target.

I guess that's the 'Performance' in 'Performance Ballistic Alloy'... it uses aerodynamic drag to actually accelerate the pellet instead of slowing it down. Neat trick.

LOL's Vince!! Ohh Yeahhhhhh!!!!! If it ain't lead,...it's crap!!! Too bad Crossman doesn't use the same "Silver Eagle" (woooo-hoooo!) molds, and put lead in them. It would almost resemble a 7.9 grain Beeman Crow-Mag!!!! They could call it the "Black-Bird"!!!!! Oooops, sorry,....got off topic again, tjk
