Ok, this Coons days are numbered. I have him "patterened" now. Every night he raids the garbage cans & makes one he$$ of a mess!! The wife made me promise to take the garbage to the dump today,, yes honey. This jerk even opens the cans & tips them over!! Well I did not make it to the dump today,,well,, after work I was busy,, just felt like "fertalizing" the yard with "Kibbles & Bits" was more important!!LOL!! The "Raider" shows up around 8:30 to 9:00,, My 54 is ready,, Man I want to post a "Big Game" kill!! Stand by,,,,, Tim.

Hey Tim, get some canned dog food, or some sardines.(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif) Happy shooting. I used to trap Coons, when I was in my teens, that's the BEST bait for them, or believe it or not, you can drill a 1 1/2" hole in a log, drive a few nails in on an angle and just drop in a quarter.(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-undecided.gif) If they see the reflection, stick there paw in, to see what it is and can't get it out, because they won't let go.

SHHHHH Hey Folks,, Im READY,, the 54 is resting on bags to the front,, the 350 is resting on bags to the back!! (Both springs are compressed!!LOL) Man Im WIRED!! You would think its opening day for Deer!! Im gonna get this jerk,, history has told me in my hunting forays,, too much planing just never seems to pay off,, its always the impromptue not ready hunts that pay off. We will see. Im going back outside now,, Tim.

Oh, You just dont know,,Its KILLING me too!! Its 11 pm. & that JERK has not shown up yet!! The 350 is all "tucked in" for the night, the 54 is still "On Duty"!!. I can last a couple more hours,, man he better not beat me again!! Going back out now,,,, Tim.

You know, Tim may already be putting the general reputation of his fellow SC air gunners in some disrepute by not bagging the raccoon yet. But if he starts posting possum kills, that will just add insult to injury. No telling what decent folks will think. Like the earlier post said: People are watching! heehee I wonder if we need to start a pool to bet -- oops, I mean "speculate" on how many days it will be until Tim's garbage raiding varmint becomes immortalized in picture on the GTA Hunting forum? I suspect it will be before Monday morning.

Man I thought I was gonna get him last night!! Well,, the "Buffet" is REALLY open tonight, some mighty fine "eats" are out for him!! He never showed last night?? I did however place the crosshairs on the "fuse box" of a really Purdy Red Fox,, I will wait for legal season for him,, man that was tempting!! (Im gonna have him mounted & want to do it "right") Tec,, your putting preasure on me,,(He He),, but,, I should have every kinda critter from miles around here in the next few days,, not intentional "baiting" mind you,, oh no!! Just that I have not been to the dump?? Like you said,, I should have him by Monday?? Going back outside for a short spell,,Tim. P.S. Harry, No NEVER would I leave them "cocked" for more than an hour or two!!

Tim, it would have been hard to pass, on that Fox, hehe. When you get him, there is a local taxidermist that does beautiful work. He has done everything from small fish-elephants. He has 1 otter mounted in his shop, laying on it's back, fishing rod in paw, large bass on the line, with a stringer full tied to his waist. Poke a few holes in a can of sardines and hang them about 3' of the ground, he'll pose for you,hehe.(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif)

Thanks Mike, Im trying to think of everything to get this Racoon,, you would think I was after that "Texas Whitetail" I have pics. of on my property from last year!LOL!! Just like Deer hunting,, think too long,, thinking wrong!! I MUST get him!! I may be able to dig up some "old pics" from last season to post here, He He He!! Tim.

Tim, I quit going after white tail several years ago.(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif) My wife and kids won't eat it and my brother gives me 1-2 a year. So I sold all of my powder burners and started after small game with my B-3.(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif) I know a few of the local Pecan Farmers and I'm going to help them out with the nutters, this year.(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif) I still love to hunt, just do it cheaper and still get all the venison I need,hehe.

1:10 A.M.,, I lowered my standards,,54 was put away I was shutting er down for the night. Just one more look outside for the garbage can raider right? Well he once again was a no show, but,, the biggest Possum I have ever seen was ripping into the garbage!! Back inside & load the 54!! When I came back out he was gone! Nope, he was inside the trash can!! As soon as he gave me a shot I let loose with a CP packing 20 ft. lbs. to the head, there is NO mistaking that sound, a solid hit for shure!! To my amazement,, he ambled off the 15 feet to the woods. ( He shure did not look too "Sporty" upon his trek) Its REAL thick were he went in & my flashlight went dead on me,Im shure I can find him in the morning & post a pic or two, unless that Fox gets him!!GEEEEZZZ!! I just cant win!! Cant even get a Possum,,I must sit out for awhile till I can make a post here thats worthy. VERY FRUSTRATING indeed,, Tim.

Don't worry buddy, I still love ya !!!
Check to be sure your up wind of the trash can, but if he's been hunted before, he may circle before commin in !
Remember, huntin is supposed to be fun, don't put so much pressure on your self, they can smell that too.
Sit out there with a beverage and enjoy the hunt, success is in the enjoyment of the hunt, not haw many critters you come home with. :)

Hey Big Bill,, Yes you are SOOO right in what you say!! At my age I know better,, its just that I get so caught up reading Ed (Shadow),,Long Island Hunter,, (Jeff) & my Good Buddy Harry,s posts,, (Many others here as well) That I have become somewhat of an adolesant "Competative Hunter". This is just plain WRONG & I know it. Mike Splash said it well,,How could you have thoght that snake was a Copper Head?? Of course I knew it was not (been hunting a LONG time!!) We ALL make mistakes,, Today I killed a snake that I should NOT HAVE!! To those that have or will see my other post here today,, I screwed up big time,, that snake should still be alive in my yard, he was no threat whatsoever. Ok,, I admit to my wrong,, now I got a Dam Coon Im gonna get!! Tim.

Hey Tim! It's OK, but keep your eye on the target and keep your powder dry -- I mean, keep your air guns ready. That varmint isn't as smart as you. You will get him if he makes the mistake of raiding the garbage one time too many. You must have been really looking hard to see the snake in the first place. BTW, did you ever find the opossum?

I 've killed one or two black garden snakes around my house after one was 2" from my door step when I opened the door to go outside. It was laying there resting or setting a trap. It started hissing at me and launched at me to bite me bringing its head inside the doorway. That could have been my son.. Since my wife planted a garden all around the house, these snakes came out of nowhere in numbers and became a nuissance. When you see more than 2 of them in 1 day (different size) just inches from your house (or door), it's time to do something about it. I didn't feel bad at all. I had a cat at the time and didn't worry about rodents or anything, nor had I ever seen one while the cat was alive or after..

At least you were able to shoot it and hit it. I 've been trying to get a shot off at the one visiting my garbage for almost a year now! He always seems to disappear into the night when I come back with the 350 or he 's a no show when I wait for him.. Oh well, it does suck when you don't recover your quarry though (I should know with the g-hogs..), but at least he won't be bothering you or spilling your garbage anymore.
