I received a tin of the Beeman Perfect Rounds today and rushed out to try them when I got home. So far my Benjamin Sheridan 397 dearly loves these. With the target 10 yards out, the rifle pumped 6 times, and using the iron rifle sight, I'm getting shot after shot dead center on the target leaving a ragged hole. I thought wow, let me try this ammo on another rifle so I grabbed my Mendoza RM200. Ok, that didn't go nearly so well. The lead balls are shooting consistently low by 5 inches even after trying to adjust the iron rifle sight to compensate. Any idea on why that might be happening?
My best guess so far is that there's a slight difference in the barrel bore diameter between the Sheridan 397 and the Mendoza RM200, with the Sheridan barrel bore offering a tighter fit on the lead round balls so there's no air leakage as the ball travels down the bore. Just to double check I loaded the Mendoza with RWS Hobby pellets and after some sight adjustments I was back to getting the kind of accurate shot groups I normally see.

Very interesting Alan, if the Benji likes them, stick with them. I might be wrong, but I'm think the rifling in the 397 isn't as 'tight' as a springer. What I mean is, it might have less spin on the projectile. But if it gives you satisfactory results, stick with them. Save your pellets for the springer. I'm a big fan of the 397 and 392's (.22 cal). Nice to hear someone else enjoys them too. If you ever decide to scope it, try the Air-Venturi mount/rail system. The B292 Crosman mounts work too, but over--tightenning these inter-mounts can break the soldered joint between barrel and compression tube. The AV mount is sturdier, and gives a high set profile for the scope. Low picatinny rings work great. The sky's the limit!!! tjk
