Here's a question that's been bugging me for some time. The first time I ordered pellets from PA, the Gamo Hunters were listed at a weight of 7.65 (or56) grains. Later I've heard people refer to their weight as being 8.1 or 8.3 grain weight. Here's the strange part. On the .17 cal tins I've gotten, there are three boxes; the first is the pellet ct, which is 250,....ok, the second box shows the caliber in both standard and metric... .117 cal/ 4.5 mm, ok,....the third box shows the weight in grams and grains, I can't remember the grams weight, but the grain weight clearly states 7.56 ( or .65) in that box on the tins lid?!?!?!? This is the tin with the dude shooting a rifle on it. Has Beeman changed the weight to these pellets lately? I'm happy with them, and they always seemed to be accurate enough for me. I kinda liked the lower weight too. Now when I check out the PA pellet page the Hunters are lsted as 8.something?? Am I right/wrong, or just out in right-field on this!?!?!? tjk

They sell the same tins I've described at academy sports too. Check them out if you have one close by. They may still have the "old" style tins there, but the web sit shows the newer tins now. I've been shooting for about two years now also, but haven't really gotten serious about the sport till this past spring. It's a blast ain't it!!!! tjk

...that whenever I tried them back-to-back, Hunters (in .177) ALWAYS shot a little faster than Match, even when the tins showed that they were significantly heavier. I suspect the lighter weight is accurate.

Yes they are pretty darn accurate, and velocity improves with them so,....who knows?!?!? Good knock down is very impressive considering the size (weight?!?!?). Hope I can find some more of these mystery weight hunters before they're all gone!!!!

I just bought 7.56 gr Gamo hunter pellets (Dude with the rifle on the front)
from Cabelas 1 month ago.

Because of this post, I went to Academy Sports to buy these pellets and save on shipping. They were $2.39 a tin of 250. That's in Baton Rouge, La. The cardboard says 8.4 grains and the tin says 7.56 grains. So I have to believe that the tin has the accurate weight. Shoots very good none the less.

Storm, I was in Cabela's a couple of weeks ago. I got the same tins, but no cardboard, mine say 8.3 on the lid?????????????? They shoot really nice!!

Just an Idea, but maybe the difference is in the specific region these differing pellets are designated to be marketed. For instance, I've heard that some counrties in Eurpoe require air rifles manufactured to be under a certain amount of foot pounds of energy/ joules. Then they calculate this into their pellets weight to velocity ratio. This may include Canada, but I don't know. Like I said, just my hypothesis. tjk
