Are you strictly a backyard snipper or do you travel the world to show off your airgun expertise to the local quarry??? Show us some pics of the places you like to hunt. I'll post pics of my hunting grounds later today.

When I go hunting for squirrels, I have been given permission to hunt on the inlaws property. Never have taken any pictures but I will try and remember the next time I go there, which is usually during the week when no one is around. There are squirrels, rabbits,wild turkey, possum, racoon, pole cats, beaver, ground hoggs, and coyote. Not to mention allot of birds, which I do not shoot.
The terrain is mostly easy to walk except around the lake area which has allot of high grass and dead trees. It is very piecefull there. When I sit up on the small hill overlooking the lake, I can see beaver working most of the time..:) The trees vary from pine to oak and a few I can not identify. Lots of ants, spiders and bugs. Last time I was there I saw two water mocasons. Yikesssssssssssssss..:)

Well here is one of my best spots & its where i like to take other club member that dont have much in the way of hunting grounds & the hard part is having to go home this is typical New Zealand farm land you can even see the old shering quaters in these photos that are un-used now.

AT this point I am strictly a back yard sniper as you put it.
Until there is no game here I'll stick around my neighborhood. I have the run of 3 of 5 backyards as of now and most of the critters congregate in those three yards.
Total acrage is about 6 but there seems to be no serious drain on the pest level wildlife. ( I know, I'm slippin'.)
Once I've got things cleaned out here I may see if some of the local farmers need critter control....

I hunt mostly at home, BUT there is a catch. I am lucky enough to own 27 acres of heavy wood property, the equivalent of a squirrel-metropolis. It has some wetlands at the north end and a 5 acre pond is part of the property line at the south end. I have about one acre "cleaned" for the house and yard. I have seen sparrows, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, wood chucks, fox, crows, turkey, deer, and bear.
I only hunt what is in season, unless they become a pest.

As you can see not a lot of people around....this was some of the north end of the property I will post pics of the south end when I return from my business trip this week.

I live on the plains of Nebraska, nestled between the North and South Platte Rivers. My "hunting" is generally done along the river bottom which is treed pretty well with big cottonwoods and lots of underbrush. I put hunting in quotes because I really don't care much if I get anything. It's more of a therapy walk. There seem to be very few squirrels, just a few rabbits, and not many other edible creatures suitable for my airgun. But yesterday I did get to see 8 deer, a flock of turkey, blue heron, and other assorted critters. Very relaxing for me.....and safe for them!

Well I am at work, and don't have any photo's here, but you can check out our range at Oostenberg Air Gun Club.
Not a lot of pics there, but I will load some more stuff tomorrow.
The range is in the Western Cape, SA. (wineland country). No animals there, but lot's of pigeons, ducks etc.
Anyway on the photo's you will see a line of trees at the end of the range, behind that is my hunting grounds.
No mossy oaks etc there. Dry grassland, with clumps of trees. There is a small pond with the occasional duck.
The area is very open, making it extremely hard to get close to your quarry. Oh yes, I almost forgot, there are some huge snakes around, so you have to keep your eyes on the ground when stalking around. The first kill normally takes long, because the birds see you coming from a mile away, but using the the first bird as a decoy you can quickly get another 20 kills in the next hour.
To keep the number of hunters down, we only allow people who eat what they kill to hunt there (unless it is a rat, mynah, etc.) .
PS: There isn't much going on at our club yet, because we only decided on starting a new club like 2 weeks ago.

I don't believe so. Shotgun, blackpowder, and bow are the only legal means IIRC.

Hi guys, I work in the local Botanic Gardens in my town in New Zealand. As a part of my job I control pest species within the contract boundaries. (the pests don't much seem to care where the boundaries are....) I am fortunate to get paid for a large portion of my hunting.
I don't have any photos of the landscape presently, because when hunting I am usually behind the camera.
Typical pest quarry are Magpies (Corvid), Rabbits, Hares, Possums, rats stoats etc.
There are California quail running around but I rarely take a shot unless numbers get too large. There were Peacocks and deer maintained on the 64 acres previously but they have been removed. Now I only take a peacock on a farm pest control hunt if the opportunity arises.
The photo below shows Andre, a guest who drove 6 hours to come hunting with us over a long weekend recently, and he poses with some quarry taken at my work early one morning. He shot and I played guide to take him to where I knew there would be quarry. That felt strange, but sharing my hunt like that worked for him, as he took this bag within 20 mins.

Nice hunting area it sounds like. WOW! you even get paid to hunt..:) That is great. Nice catch Andre got there with his PCP. Which rifle do you use Greyskull to do your job with?

Gene, I am known locally among airgunners as "that lunatic that likes Hatsans". I have a really nice powerful mod 60 in .22 cal, and recently aquired a mod 100 as a challenge/project. This is a story in itself, of how I came into possession of it, but suffice to say it is not a highly regarded rifle. I tend to agree with that, but am reworking it to perform well. I intend to use the 100 in next year's National series spring class.
The Hatsan 60 is out there in a league of its own for hunting, and while PCP rifles are a step up for accuracy and power, I like that this rifle was cheap, powerful, takes skill to handle well, and has a walnut stock. It says "hunter"to me when I pick it up, and all the ergonomics are just right.
This is the rifle I take to work with me every couple of days, out on Possum safaris, rabbit hunts, and even to the range for practise. Its now like a comfortable glove, worn in and predictable.
I believe you have this rifle in USA marketed as Daisy/Winchester 1000x.

Too right...........I also believe that target shooting on the range is the practise of the real object of the sport of Airgun shooting,....Hunting.
I love my target shooting, I try to get as much time on the range as I can, and spend equal amounts of time hunting. Both are complimentary.
The interesting thing is that although I have never previously had an interest in Modifying airguns, I have started with trigger improvement as a result of info sourced from here and other forums based in USA. Nice that we can feed info back and forth like that.
I am really fortunate to have a great and enthusiastic hunting buddy in *Damage*. A safe and knowledgable hunter who I know I can trust when the chips are down, as well as being more fun than going it alone. I have discovered in my trips with him the difference between being a good shot and being a hunter, but am still a long way off being a good hunter......lol.

Well put Greyskull,,,, having a buddy like DAMAGE to shoot and hunt with only makes the experience that much more enjoyable. Friends such as those can be a rare find, but once found they are priceless.

That goes for anyone who wants to travel and hunt in our fine Country. Its sort of off the beaten tourist track, but we will take anyone out for a possum or rabbit hunt if they care to. (Airguns only!)
As we commented to one Auckland club member who came down for the long weekend with FX Typhoons and wife in tow.........u will need to bring your dive bottle with you on the hunt if you intend to use a PCP. We load and fire over a hundred shots each in our Possum hunts over a six or seven hour night shoot. (so he made a cart for his dive bottle out of a golf trundler and dragged the thing around the farm all night.)
If you want to hunt in Airgun heaven mate, book the ticket now. An added bonus is travelling around to view the scenery and meet real New Zealanders in the real New Zealand. (In the countryside, not in the big cities)
