: Shorten Crosman 1399 Stock
: Dave1899 June 25, 2008, 01:05:24 PM
This is how I shortened the Crosman 1399 Stock 3" for my wife's 2250B.  It actually went fairly easy.  I did use a band saw to do the cuts but it can be done with a hacksaw.   I used a heat gun to adjust the top rail to match the Butt, however I read you can use very hot water.  I'm pleased with the finished Mod and most importantly my wife likes it :)

Dave, that's a nice clean shrink job. If you need some more height to the top, you can add one of the pieces that you cut off. Glue, screw in place, then bondo to fill in the seam and bedliner it.

A hot air plastic welder sure would be handy when shortening those stocks. Wonder if the stock is ABS or if it's nylon. Did it smell like burning styrofoam when you heated it, or did it smell like burning sewing thread?

I didn't get it hot enough to smell it.  I believe it's ABS.  I'd be real careful using a plastic welder as they get extremely hot in a small area.  I'd be afraid of melting a spot on the stock.  Good idea though if done very carefully.
