For those of you who have used the JSB Predator pellets for hunting I was just wondering what your overall impression of them is. I keep looking at them but haven't purchased any yet. If they are as good in hunting applications as their advertising says then I will pick some up and give em a try, but I figured I'd get some first hand info from people who've used em. Squirrel season is fast approaching where I live and considering how tough squirrels can be I keep considering these pellets. Thanks.

I can give you my experience with them.
1. The shoot the same trajectory as Crosman Pointed do in my CDT Shadow. At least out to 40 yards.
2. I have hit 1 rabbit with them at 30 yards and he went down like a box of rocks. Course, it was in the eye and came out 1/2" lower on the other side but clearly penetration was successful.
3. I have found they group very well with my CDT Shadow.
4. I have hit 1 squirrel with them but my shot was off. He got away but not very fast.....
5. The penetration testing I have done personally has been impressive and I find them to be a solid performer.
In my Benjamin Sheridan 392 they are simply vicious.

Hey, Jeff,
Here's a good link with lots of info on the Predators- http://ausairgun.hunters-hut.com/forum/index.php?sid=914b823a6a554124d4ec75d92c00021f . Look for a guy that logs on as yrrah. He also posts on the Yellow, but there's more info here. I just ordered some for my new RWS 350, after reading some of Harry's stuff I figured they were worth a try. Hope this helps.

hmmmmmmm, those pellets are expensive.. Yikessssssssssss lol.
Did you see the review where the guy blew a lamb shank to pieces with those pellets..:) quite interesting. Wish he would of had a couple of those shanks so he could of compared the damage with another brand of pellet..

I have not tried jbs preditors. If I did I would never use them unless it was the most acurate or at least close to my most accurate. You can't kill a tiny target unless you hit it first. I just came inside from nailing a little gray tree rat that was at least 10 yards further than my 50 yard targets. he was lounging on a small tree almost in line with my hanging golf ball. when I got down there I did have to use a second pellet but if I had not hit him in the first place............used my plinking pellets, crosman premier hollow points that walmart sells cheep. .177. a tf79-t with a lothar barrel. I do get flyers with those pellets but some times I can hit the chalk-line cord that the golf ball hangs on at 50 yrads john

As you know, different pellets group better than others in some rifles, but if your rifle likes the regular JSB Diabolos, then it will probably like the Predators, at least in my hunting rifles the Predator and Diabolos group about the same - and that is a good thing. Of course, the most accurate pellet is the one to shoot. A hit is better than a miss any day.
Cheers

Tonight I got a good 5+lb suburban cottontail.
I hit it from 45 yards away (I measured it out afterwards) with one predator pellet.
I hit it lower than I'd planned and it entered the rabbit somewhere in the upper neck. I could find no visible signs of exit.
It ran about 20' into some light brush and never moved again.
That is the second rabbit I've taken with a single predator pellet and near my maximum hunting range. I've got no complaints about them. :)

I just ordered some tonight,,,, after readin your post I can't wait till they arrive and I get a chance to try them out. I wanted to order both .177 and .22 but could only find the .177 in stock so I'll try them first. If they work well then I'll stock up on both sizes. I also ordered a tin of the Gamo "Tomahawk" pellets in .177 figured I'd give then try also. They look like a predator clone, but for $9.00 for a tin of 750 I figured what the heck, ya never know.

Longisland where did you buy urs at?
-
I ordered them from Pyramydair, was the only place I could find them in stock. They have the .22 pellets on backorder, but I really don't like to deal with backorders so I got the .177 for now.

to have a Sportsman's Warehouse within a 20 minute drive that carries them in .177 and .22. They aren't cheap at $9.99 a tin but they are worth the cost in my opinion.
I wish you luck with them LI. Hopefully they will perform as well for you as they do for me.

Gander mountain here sells them, 13.99 a tin :( but atleast its avaliable locally.
