I had to defend my beatiful blue jays, at my bird feeder, and when squirrels started to take over, i knew i had to do something.(this is prior to the Storm XT) I loaded BB after BB into my 880, and pumped 1-2 times, and shot there rear ends off. They just keep coming back. So then I bought Big Bertha.lol.

I had some scope troubles, but now i have a good no wait i take that back i have an EXCELLENT gun and scope combo.
Well this morning, i saw two squirrels fighting each other for control of my BIRD feeder. Dang it there at it again. I will show them though. I waited a couple hours to let them get comfortable. At around 10:45, i decided enough was enough. I loaded a CPHP into my Storm, slowly opened the storm door. Let him settle back down. Slowly started to open the screen door, rested my hand on the door, lay my gun on my hand, steadied the crosshairs, on his head, flicked the safety off, slowlly squezzed the trigger.....POW..THUMP! I got him! He ran 3yds to his right to a tree, jumped up it, fell back down took a couple more steps, and plowed down into the weeds. I put my sandals on, loaded another pellet and ran to get him. I found about 2ft., from where i saw him fall off the tree. He was DOA. He was a little booger, but now my birds can have there food back.

I think that the .177 performed perfectly. No need for the .22 here. I will soon be posting my review of this gun.

Good shooting. You showed him how you deal with bird seed thiefs.
What was the distance anyway? .177 is perfect for squirrels. Just aim for the upper part of their head in the area between eye and ear and they 'll go down fast every time.

It was about 20+ yards. I couldnt find the entrance.(i know i hit him though lol) and i knew there wasnt going to be an exit. Hopefully i dont have to do it again. I will get em in squirrel season though.

Nice shootin' there Brody and you procured a tasty meal to boot.I don't know if I would protect them Blue Jays though. They may be colorful to look at but are definitly on a par with grackles when it comes to harrassing protected Song birds. If it's legal where you live I'd look right past their outer beauty and put the cross hairs on them.
