Well, I'm day 2 into my two day suspension and I called in sick tomorrow, then I've got my regular 2 days off for a grand total of 5 days off. WOO HOO!!! Early Vacation!
Anyhow, I trimmed shrubs, bushes, trees, put up a new bird feeder, cleaned around the house, organized me garage a bit, and then I was outta stuff to do. "What next?" I asked myself "AAAAHAAAAA!!! That Lathe I got has been collectin some dust lately!" So I spun up a bushing, front & rear end caps for a Full Length shroud for my 2250XT. I also pulled the bolt, faced it off and center drilled it for an entended probe. Now all I'm missin is the Set Screws to hold the shroud on and we're in business!!! Maybe a little paint to keep it stealthy...Dunno yet though.
Pix to come when she's all put together! Possibly tomorrow afternoon!

good stuff looks like you turned your suspension into a pretty good vacation
-
That's the way, to make the best of a bad situation, Sam. We'll be waiting on them pics.
-
Turning metal is a great way to spend a vacation. I just finished a golf ball mortar for a my friend's boss. Now I have money to blow on my addiction!!!!
-
What's the range on that mortar? Wonder if it could improve my game...LOL

hey Ralph you may have the money but is the "boss" going to let you buy another gun?
-
Well here it is! Not quite finished yet. I've decided to paint it cause it just don't look right "In the White"
-
Turned out nice Sam. I haven't tried it yet, but Birchwood Casey's Aluma Black, may hold up better than paint. I'm going to give it a try on mine, I'll let you know how it works and post a pic.
-
looks good sam keep up the good work
-
Very sharp Sam, I have a fondness for dem pistola's. Ed
-
Thanks guys!
Mike, I've tried the Alumi Black. It works on smaller pieces, but I've never had any luck getting an even color on larger stuff. I've got enough Gun Kote left. I gotta do it NOW though before the old lady gets home & catches me usin her oven to cure paint again! hahaha
-
Man, thats one nice lookin Punt Gun!!! Is it functional???
How many grains of powder does it use??? VIDEO!!! VIDEO!!! I think I speak for us all when I say We all need to see this thing in action!
-
Thanks Sam. I'm gonna try it and see, if it doesn't work, I'll paint over it.
-
Sam, what did you get suspended for? Strange how companies will give you 2 days off as a punishment. My employer just writes us up and sh*tcans us. A lot of bosses act like you're asking them to cut off their own genitalia by taking a day off.
-
I backed a Gradall over the cage of a Genie Boom. But some sh*thead parked the boom behind me WHILE I was moving. My spotter didn't even say anything.
-
I'd love to video this thing, but it doesn't belong to me anymore.. I tested one out a few years back and was trying for accuracy 'lobs' at my aunt's lake. Needless to say, 450g of ffg black powder will send a golf ball about a half mile or so. You can see it fly and it just keeps on going and going and going until it's out of sight. Also figured out not to patch the ball or it puts a tremendous amount of spin on it. You can get a boomerang of a slice or so much topspin that it'll crank itself into the ground just ahead of the mortar. 100g of ffg will make a good thump and you can lob balls about 300yds or so. If I can talk my friend's boss into it, I will see if he will video it. He has about 75 acres, almost enough room to shoot it safely. BTW Trek, I haven't talked to the Boss about another yet, but I bet I already know the answer!
-
That is a sweet cannon. How big is it? it looks really small in the pic, but looks can be decieving.
-
Sam, that sucks. I bet an attitude adjustment with a 36" Matco prybar would fix that sumbeech. Sucks getting hammered for something that's not your fault. I've been there.
-
Yup...That 'bout sums it up. BUT, I'm back to work now. And they're back to screwin my schedule around.
I talked to my boss and he told me to fight the suspension, and that I'd win. He says it wasn't his decision to write me up & suspend me. I believe him, and I KNOW who pitched a b*tch about it.
Needless to say...I will be!

Hey Sam,
just read my wife your post about the oven. She's laughing so hard there may be a wet spot on the couch :)
