I recently purchased a Tasco Golden Antler (Airgun rated) scope in 3-9x32mm AO
I know this is a cheap scope but I was still not pleased
Here are a few things i do not like:
The allen screws on the scope mounts are crap and the hex will strip with any real tightening, the correct size allen key fits rather loosely IMO so i tried one from my own set and it worked better as the one provided with the scope stripped itself upon tightening.
Same with the allen set screws in the adjustable turrets, and the holes for the set screws are pretty sloppy as well.
With gentle finger tightening on the turret screws they felt like they had stripped already and now the turret is kinda loose on the inner knob
Dove tail mounts were cheap looking, the part that grabs the dovetail looked rounded and generally imprecise in manufacture.
The scope rings themselves werent too hot either, when mounted on the scope they had alot of gap on each side, especially with the non-scratch stuff in them, BTW i had ALOT of scope creep which gave me terrible groups.
I am calling Tasco and Opticsplanet tomorrow to ask for either a refund or replacement. I have a 1pc. mount on the way and if i still have this scope ill try it out and see if it helps.
Anyone else find crappy hardware with their GA scopes?

No problem's with the one's that I have and changing over to the one peice Accushot mount's is the way to go. Sorry to here that though cause a few of here have the Golden Antler and are happy with them for the price. Ed

I have several of them and never had any problems with them, although I will admit the tiny allen screws on the scope turrets have a tendency to loosen up very easily, but that can be fixed. As for the mounts, I have used them and they have worked for me with no evident creep, but I usually just automatically switch over to Accushot mounts anyway...
Sorry to hear you're having problems,,,, I'm sure they'll refund you money........

Jeff is right-IMO and experience scope problems are often mount problems. I just inventoried some accushot mounts just to have on hand to change the mounts out if there are problems. I got the last batch from optics planet.

Just got off the phone with the Opticsplanet guy and I have THIS en route as soon as my return gets processed.

Looks like a great deal especially with free shipping, a little Military discount action, and its Designed for Springers.

Will you let us know how it does? I'm considering one for my RWS 48. Thanks. Terry

yes sir will do

In the "Reviews" section some guy commented that he has run thousands of shots thru it mounted on a RWS 350 mag.
I'm thinking of getting one if the BSA's stay on backorder much longer. (for my Diana 48)

Hey Guys, you know that Barska scope has surprised me with how well it has performed. I'm always going to be skeptical with economy priced scopes but so far the two Barska 3X12 AO mil dot scopes that I have on A Gamo Hunter Extreme and a Walther Talon Magnum have done all I could ask. Both of these guns are hard kickers and the Gamo killed a CenterPoint 4X16 after about 600 shots. For $55.00 so far it's a winner.

This is way late, but I had a golden antler of similar discription on a crosman phantom and it munched it. I sent it back and bushnell said it looked like it had been dropped and would not repair it. So I told them to send it back and I would use it for target practice for my .300 savage. When I got it back they had replaced it with a bushnell 3-9x32 sporter. I will say the guy at customer service was very helpful and nice. The tasco scopes don't appear to take the beating that a springer puts out. B :emoticon:

Right on dude. I have one on my el gamo big cat and it ain't done nothin but hit whatever I shoot at. Bad boy scope for the price. Plus I am a mil dot freak, so it gives me the extra advantage of quick longer distance pickup. B :emoticon:

Thx for your collaboration!
I am really enjoying my Barska, just like Progun said.
I like Mildots as well, once you figure out how to use them at varying distances its quite useful. I sighted in with CPH but i aim one mildot under with Destroyers.
