: Is the Crosman Storm Xt's Stock Solid?
: Brod_Man July 15, 2008, 12:54:48 AM
Is it solid wood, or is it venieer? I saw Shadows idea of whittling some wood away, and i though i might give it a whirl. So is it okay to do it, on my Storm? Thanks.

Carve away, it's solid. You'll want to add a piece of dowel rod, through the grip area for strength.

what do you mean? like drill a hole, and push it through?

Yes, just drill a hole, add a drop of glue and tap it in. You can drill down, at the back under the action, or drill up from the bottom, of the grip and add a cap to cover the dowel. The grip area is a weak spot, on the stock, so if you take away any wood, you'll need some reinforcement. A long wood screw will also work, just be sure to drill a pilot hole.

3/4 is too big, that wouldn't leave much of the stock, to reshape. 3/8 is about right.
