I know these are stupid questions, so please bear with me. When using a spring compressor to remove the spring, what is the proper technique for doing this?? I haven't got my compressor finished yet, but I'm looking at the cylinder which was removed from the stock. There is a pin running through the diameter of the cylinder at the rear which holds the spring guide in place. Also, do you have to remove the entire trigger assembly in order to change the spring? Thanks for your help.

No question is stupid here. Especially when you are talking about dangerous disasembly of a springer. I can not answer your question as I am not fluent in all the springers. I have watched CDT carefully compress the spring guide to releive pressure off the spring to be able to remove pin. He uses a home made press. He may even have a step by step on how to build it. It looks very simple but what do I know...:)
The trigger may be different on the air guns. The Gamo, you remove the trigger assyembly before you remove the spring. Hope that someone who is very well versed in tear down can give you more detail. Just remember that the spring is loaded and could really hurt you bad if you do not use proper tools to remove.
The key word here is Safety...:) Look on CDT's site for some details or look in our library for a link for help

Thanks for your help Gene. I have a spring compressor that I've already started....hopefully I'll have it finished by the end of this week. I wasn't sure at which point to apply the compressor on the rear of the cylinder because of this pin.

When I have watched CDT remove springs he puts the pin end of cylinder at the end he turns the handle to screw it in with. He turns it in far enough to releive presseure to remove pin.

Thanks Gene, I think that's what I was looking for. If I'm understanding this correctly... you're saying is that, even though there is a pin running through it, the bottom will push in a little and that will allow the pin to slide out?

ha Mark you may need some punches and a hammer,those pins don't just push out or push back in..

Believe it or not, I was able to push the pin out pretty easily with my finger. After the compressor made contact I would just turn the handle a bit and check the pin, after a couple of tries, it slid right out.
