I woke up around 2:30 last night, was bored and couldn't get back to sleep. Most likely because I have been anxious to make a kill with my new R7 .177. It was a full moon or pretty close to it. I picked up my binoculars and started glassing the yard. I noticed movement under the bird feeder and had seen some holes in the ground around the brush/leave pile on the end of my property just beyond the feeder. I looked through the scope and silhouetted a small critter running in and out of the feed pile under the bird feeder. Damn the gun was not cocked or loaded yet. I loaded and cocked the gun and waited for the critter to come back. after about 5 minutes he came back and I had him in my cross hairs and gently pulled the trigger with no report. O man , I forgot to take the safety off ...Uhhh I guess I wasn't that awake after all and standing in the dark wasn't helping much. I took the safety off and within 2 or 3 minutes the little bandit arrived to steal some more of my bird feed. well I had to put a stop to him and keep that type of vermin out of my yard ..I took aim and put my cross hairs on his silhouette in the moon light and squeezed one off. I guess third time was a charm, I heard the Pop and saw him doing the death roll through the scope. I went and picked him up this morning and took a pic of this dirty little disease carrying rodent. I was thinking about keeping him as a pet, but he didn't like the pelletized food I fed him :)
It was CPHP .177 brand...lol
Big_Bill, I was lucky the fever struck hard enough to wake me from a sound sleep... Glad it did or I would have missed my chance at cleaning up this vermin in my neighborhood.

gamo2hammerli, Thanks for the kind words. I try to make as humane kills as possible whenever shooting at game animals, but mistakes and errors can occur whenever humans are involved...lol I do practice a lot on paper targets and spinners, but I am still no marksman. I just try to patiently wait for the perfect shot or I don't shoot at all sometimes.
Nice TCups, I like that R(at)7 . It has a nice ring to it, although I have already dubbed it the "Silent7". It's a great ratter for sure, and has so little recoil I can practically keep my eye on my query while the shot goes off.

Night patrol, there's alway's something creeping around. Great shot on that nasty rodent Chris and I'm sure that he's got more family hanging around out there, SHOOT EM ALL.! Ed

That R7 looks awesome, like brand new. Did you buy it new? Those low & medium-powered (R7 & R9) springers can be deadly accurate and a lot of fun hey? And the best thing, they don't wake up the neighbors like a Magnum spinger!

Thanks Harry, O yeah I like the Low and medium powered springers. After shooting the hw 90 or the Kodiak the barrel breaks very easy on the R7, almost effortless. The accuracy is great, with minimal recoil. definitely a fine shooter. I found a great deal on it through a pawn shop. It was in such good condition I couldn't pass on the deal. I have shot about 30 shots through it so far and it's still dieseling a bit, so I would guess it wasn't used much. Best of all, it's so quiet the neighbors can have a cook out next door and would never know you were taking out targets on the other side of the fence...lol
