Sorry again Folks about the over size pics. Gotta tell Ya Folks,, Possums are REALLY hard to kill!! No matter the fact I was using only 14 Ft.Lbs.,, I have used 130 Ft. Lbs. rimfires with the same results. Shot placement is critical!! I decided yesterday to change my strategy,, I was going for the eye to "disorent" him for for quick follow up shots. Lo & behold,, if you look close you will see the first shot was just behind the eye,,well,, it still worked,, he was walking in big circles. I franticly reloaded & fired again, (Moving target) "THUMP"!! Reload again,, "Thump"!! Circles changed from clockwise to counter clockwise,,became increasingly smaller circles,,He finally fell over. Finally!! The first shot was from a rest,, all the following ones were free hand under preasure,,(the wife says 5 more moving shots were taken??) Now Folks, it may only be a Possum,,This hones ones Deer Hunting skills no matter what you say!! Still makes the adrenalin run!! I Finally got him!! Tim.

Wondering when you were gonna deal with that dang trashcan robber . . . (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif)

Great shooting Timmy!!! Them possums are pretty mean and very tough to kill. I think you and that panther of yours will have no problem keeping the critters out of your garbage...
keep up the good work and great pic!!
-
Good job Tim!! You finally got him!
The possom has some of the thickest skulls for its size. Thicker than a fox or a coon. 1/3 of its body weight is the head..
If I may make a suggestion.. next time have the 350 and/or 54 ready & loaded next to you, especially when going after a possom. So after you take the shot with the Panther and the prey is still standing, pick up the other loaded guns and take your follow up shots. I 'm going to use this strategy with the g-hogs from now on, because it just takes a little too long to re-load a break-barrel especially when you are under pressure and the adrenaline is running :-)

Great shootin Tim and a superb pic as well !! I agree,,,, them critters are tough to say the least. I was just curious,,, what pellets were you using???? Keep up the good work buddy and keep those posts coming,,,, I always look forward to your posts and pics :)

Bugs Bunny and co. are pretty peeved......you just killed the Tasmanian Devil. Luv the recounting of your hunt...3 or 4 freehand shots...that struck the target...with a pounding heart. Way to go.....
-
Holy !@#%$@ Tim...I never knew they had that big of teeth !! Id of parked that truck of yours on it's noggin just to be sure...
-
Don't worry, no need for the truck. Tim runs over them with his motorcycle a few times to make sure they 're not playing 'possom'.

Pretty funny Harry!! No, J has that bike now!! Hey Jeff, Sorry I forgot to answer your question,, Im shooting CPHP,s in my 177 Panther. They shoot just barely under 900 fps.,, & they are ACCURATE!!!! My Panther was Tuned by Gene & Bob, (CDT). I have 100% confidence in the Panther with that amo,,the pells hit wherever the crosshairs are EVERY time!! Tim.
