Some of you know me from the other phorum......
My favorite guns are the benjamin and sheridan stuff.
I have a few chinese...such as a B3 and a really nice shooting B21.
The B21 I had tuned my self, following Charlie's Tune guide.
I was walking through Wal-Mart last night and I saw the Shadows where on sale for $60.00.
I have never owned a Gamo before, so I did not know what to expect if I bought one.
There was only one left on the bottom shelf. The box was open and all the manuels and other things that go with it were loose.
I showed the manager that the box was open and while showing it to him. I noticed some scratches on the stock. I pointed this out to him also.
I asked him if I could give him $30.00 for it.
He took it!!
Seeing as it was the last one.
The first thing I found is the breech seal has a chip out of it.
If any one here has one they could part with for a buck or two I would appreciate it.
Ill be back later wife is calling and I have to go out of town till tonight.
Have fun and be safe

Hi gbrad,
Depends on what you mean by a "chip". A lot of the Gamos have a part of the seal that appears "worn down"...basically from friction from opening and closing the breach block when loading. This is usually considered normal and generally won't effect the gun performance. You can check to see if it leaks by doing this: place a pellet in the barrel, then take a piece of wax paper and place it between the reciever and breech block then close the action. Fire the pellet in a safe direction and open the gun and check the wax paper. If there is a clean hole in it, then the seal is still good, if not, you need to replace the seal. If you need a new breech seal, you can get them from Gamo (4 pack). http://www.gamousa.com/Catalog.aspx?Product=184
BTW, that's a fantastic deal on that gun! You'll find that it's a great shooter and should be really happy with it. If it turns out to be defective, you can send it back to Gamo for a replacement.....either way, for $30.00, you are way ahead of the game....a few years ago I bought mine for about $120.00 and have been extremely happy with it's performance.

I just did a little research and found the link to the page you gave me here.
Thank you again.
I found out, that perhaps, I have an older version.
The words printed on the main tube are painted on in gold paint. Not the sticker I have seen on some shadows.
The stock screws are the six point Torques type instead of phillips. The scope stop is a piece of metal with a screw through it.
Not the nice clamping type with the rubber bumper.
If I read the sieral number right. It looks like it was made in june of '04.
It did not diesel on the first shot ...I'm thinking it was a floor model.
It was probably dry fired many times.
There are two ways I could go about correcting some of the things I have listed.
1 I could send it to Gamo USA and have warrenty stuff done....
2 I could just strip and tune it myself...
It looks like it might be a good shooter...
Other than shooting into the ground to check the breech seal for leaks I haven't put it through a serious shooting trial.
I'll elaborate more later.
Thank you again Mark.
Have fun and be safe

If the rifle you have has the torex screws and not phillips screws holding on the stock it is not an old model it's a new one.
The last digets in the serial number tell you what year, like 05 is 2005, etc.

OK Then I have an '06....
I just got done doing a strip and clean....
The whole spring was caked with clear silicon grease. Every time Id fire it, the grease would get flung down to the head of the piston and get pushed passed the seal when cocked for the next shot.
A friend stopped buy and found me in my shop working on the shadow.
"You got one of those too??" He said when he walked into the shop.
He saw the shadows on sale earlier this week and pick one up. He was stopping buy to see if we could go shooting tomorrow.
He got his new toy out of his car and we begain to compair them....
We tried shooting some. Butt it was too dark to see the targets. His will break the sound barrier with those PBA pellets.
Mine wont.....
I had just completed a clean and relube and I know the mian seal is good so the only thing I could think of that would keep my rifle from breaking the sound barrier was that breech seal with the chip missing out of it.
SO I did a quick swap of breech seals from his rifle to mine....
Yup That was it...the seal is leaking.
Im going to order some new breech seals.
Now if only I can figure out why my wife is yelling......
later
