what is the correct "press fit" between a seal and the bore on most springers? i use my own theory but cant find any info on the web.
so whats the 'as a rule" numbers you guys/gals have on this??

: Parachute? Venom? Flat? Center hub? Ring support?

Each of these criteria change the parameter of friction, thus have different 'feel' for tension. I tend to test and resize seals until they're ruined, then start againbut stop before the seal is ruined.

I've had good luck withjust beingable to push the piston with a little force, and it should not drop down on its own. If you need to get out the hammer, thats way too much. But the important thing is that I dont start "feeling the fit" until I've got the seal past all the slots/cutouts and it is in the compression chamber. If you have a lot of seals to choose from, there's a little variance in the OD, and you can see what kind of effect the smallest and the largest has on the amount of force that is needed to push. The seals are cheap enough, especially when JM has them on special, so you can get a pretty good assortment of sizes going on. I've been following his specials for many months now, and have gathered a whole lot ofdifferent sized seals. I figure he can't make 'em forever, so why not spend the money before they are not available anymore.

I think the best fit is a moderate resistance to push the piston. 7-10 ft lbs sounds a tad much. Also put your finger over the transfer port and see if it will hold pressure. If it leaks past the seal it's too loose.
