This morning I decided to drop my friend's spread to see if anything was moving about, maby a G-hog.:) My weapon of choice would be the Beeman GH950.22 that I recieved from PeakChick awhile back, very nice shooter and has recieved a complete tune since then. I arrived and did a quick wave to my buddy having java at his kitchen window and headed for the hunting ground's. I slipped into the wood's and found myself a nice brushy hide just off the game trail, maby catch something going for thier morning walk with any luck. Movement was all around me in the tree's, squirrel's going from tree to tree now I just need a clean shot. Up and down I looked, check the trail, check the tree's when the shot that I was looking for presented itself. He was up there in the clearing of some leaves doing his morning cleaning, not a care in the world hehe. I was catching quick view's of the other nutter's but never a clear shot and this one seemed to be tempting fate so I raised her up with a Predator loaded and got into the Zen mode. The crosshairs of the cheap ol Powerline were locked in and figuring maby thirty yard's out and a spell up lol I sent the Predator away. Again another nutter drop's without a struggle except for several twitches on the ground. This pretty much cleared out the rest of them, like setting off a fire alarm hehe. I stepped out twenty four to the base of the tree and figured the rest was a bonus as I gathered him up for his photo shoot and cleaning. The icebox is getting very happy at home lately and the Beeman performed flawlessly. Ed

Good shootin buddy. I haven't been able to get out and do any critter shooting lately :( due to work/home duties so your posts have been "keeping me going" until I can get out there myself....
Beautiful looking rifle and nutter and I felt like I was in the hide with ya :)

Great shooting Ed! Really like those sharp colorful pics of yours! :)
I went squirrel hunting (in my back yard) and totally blew it this morning before I went to work. Finally saw one around 8:45am on a tree about 30+yds out and he was all the way up shaking up the leaves - it was 41-42yds when the A/O cleared things up. As soon as I find him through the lense, I hear chatter and barking not more than 25yds away. There were 6-7 other squirrels much closer to me on the trees directly behind the house! I was sticking out the window trying to get a clear shot at the other one while they were all watching me :) They gave the alarm so when I look back through the scope my tree rat was gone. Now I can see little black shadows and silluettes running & leaping all over the trees in the back but could not get a clear shot at any of them. They went around the back of the trees or hid in the leaves and couldn't see anything. Most of them bolted and left my property, so I really blew it. They 've all seen me and know my intentions. Oh well, it will just make it that more challenging this hunting season.
I 'm a little rusty hunting squirrels :) I haven't had one in my sights for a long time - since they went out of seaon, and have been concentrating on the g-hogs. I 'll get back into the nutter mode soon. It's like riding a bike :) but just goes to show you that we can all still make beginner mistakes..

Nice Shot you said you cleaned him.. so you must eat them right. How do you prepare them

Thank's fellow hunter's and Josh I fry em most of the time. Here's one of the recipes that I use , it's for 4 squirrels and I just adjust for the amount of squirrel. 3/4 cup all purpose flour,1 tablespoon salt, 1teaspoon pepper,4 slices bacon cut, 1 egg beaten, 2 tablespoons butter, 2 apples, 1 orange, 1 white onoin. Cut apple, onoin, orange place in crock pot and add squirrel. Cook until tender but not falling apart. Let the meat cool completly, mix flour, salt and pepper in bowl, dip squirrel in well beaten egg then dredge through flour mix. Throw bacon and butter in skillet then add squirrel. Fry on low heat uncovered till brown, about twenty minutes for each side. Injoy, Ed

Is there anything you haven't mastered yet :)

Thank's Chris but I'm just the nut behind the wheel so to speak hehehe. The Lord provides the rest and I just try to use it to the best of my ability. Ed

Holy....or is that holey...smokes, is that the entrance or exit wound. That Beeman performed beautifully. I haven't seen so much red since the Peking/Beijing Olympics.....(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif)
-
That's the entrance wound Stanley, the .22 Predator hammered em good. The exit wound look's just as bad which helped in cleaning him, lack of blood.:) Ed

Thank's Jason, darn it you caught me but the slingshot broke and I just wacked em with the rock but I did paint the word "PREDATOR" on the side of it lol. Cave man tactic's hehehehe. Ed
