Hi guys
Today I just bought a brand new Daisy 22SG @ local Academy for $49.99 !! Is this a good bargain ??. Test fired @ 10 yards very accurate. Easy to pump, come with a daisy 4x32 scope and mount. Love it .

Yes, that is about half what they go for on the web. bb did a nice write up on them in his blog http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2005/09/daisy-22sg.html
Nice score!

Too bad no stores near me.
-
Good deal. Mine's a tackdriver.

Get two Daisy is disconrtinuing this model i hear. I love mine just killed a wabbit this morning with it. Wish I could get another especially for that price. Do they come with a scope?
-
Yes it does come with a powerline 4x32 scope with rings. It is pretty clear though. Mine is very accurate to about 30 yards.
Love it .

Thanks for the answer John. There aren't any Academy stores close to me. I would encourage everyone to try this nice rifle from Daisy -easy to pump, .22 cal., accurate, scope, good indoor plinker-target shooter, very quite and light, powerful enough for Wabbits and Squirrels and only $50.--!!!!! WOW JFYI mine shoots Gammo Match and Hunters very well. Hobbys give you some more velocity and fun factor for outdoor shooting.

I think its quite possible that I just bought the last one of these in Georgia! I had previously called the Macon store, but they were sold out (or at least the workers couldn't find it). I happened to be in the Athens, GA area on work business, so I swung into the Academy and sure enough, there was one left, on clearance, $49.95. I snatched it up. Nice little package. Decent little scope too. Much nicer than what Daisy puts on their other pneumatic guns. I'll give her some test shots tonight.
If you go looking for this, note that the rifle is not in a box like the newer Powerlines. It is in a clear plastic clamshell. I actually looked for quite awhile and was about to give up, then I finally saw it.

Today as I was out of town I tried to get my brother in law to pick one up on the way to the family dinner but the Academy he stopped at didn't have any, apparently they had called another as well and were also out of luck. I had seen one at the Cedar Park, TX Academy and managed to get there at about 8:40pm tonight-- I think I got the last one!
Only had a few shots out of it so far, but I was impressed with it's solid build-- except for the cocking bolt which is plastic and feels feeble. If the pump were also some type of steel it's also be an improvement, but those 2 items are basically all the plastic on it (except maybe the trigger and safety). Does anybody make a replacement pump arm for it?
I'll run it across the chrony tomorrow if I get the chance and report back.

Hi guys
The pump handle is plastic but so far it works pretty good. Today shot the pellet tin can from 20 yrds away, it only went througth the cover and little din on the back , guess the speed was around 500 fps . Untill now I only shoot springer , this is my first recoilless air rifle, feel very happy with it. I am so happy that you guys found a good bargain.

So I scoped it with the supplied 4x32. Got it dialed in *very* quickly-- only needed a vertical adjustment-- which depending on how far it forward it was mounted may not have even been necessary (or if I had changed my distance which was about 10m). Anyway, at around 10m it was pretty accurate-- I was able to hit the black diamond a couple of times on the 1" red target stickers I have. At 10m I'd never miss the 1" target.
Ran it across the chrony and was somewhat disappointed with the results-- not overly so but even though I'd read other reviews I *really* wanted it to live up to the packaging-- which promised 625 fps :-)
With CPHP 14.3 grains it did anywhere from 425 to a little over 500. It seemed to steady out around 495-513 after several shots. When I tried some Daisy wadcutters it did about 530 or so. This was all with 10 pumps, btw.
I took the supplied 4x32 scope off it and put a Centerpoint 4x16x40 on it after my 8 year old complained it didn't zoom :-) I agreed and swapped out it immediately :-) At just over 20 yards I was able to hit the 1 inch target stickers after a short dial in period. It's not capable of hitting the center diamond with any regulalrity like my CFX is, but overall I'm pretty happy with the accuracy and performance.
I'd try it with some additional different pellets but due to the day long shooting session yesterday at the in-laws nearly all of my pellets are gone! Over 6 guns (plus some red ryders and a Daisy Buck) we blew through probably 600-800 shots.

I bought one online a year ago for around $60 shipped.
Installed a 6 X 42 scope, 18 inch full shroud, painted the stock with textured paint,
and a Gamo sling buddy.
It is one of my most accurate air rifles. Absolutely zero recoil.

Nice job on the 22SG. They are sweet little shooters along with the Daisy 901 buy one for $50.--. Why is Daisy going to stop production on this one? If they make a .22 cal in the 901 configuration I will be happy.
Where are all the multi-pump .22 Caliber rifles going? No benjamin's next? E-mail the mfg's and request a .22 caliber replacement for the 22SG.

You may want to try oiling yours. The little foam? felt? wiper on the piston rod of mine was pretty dry. I noticed my velocities went up after I oiled it. I hope Daisy doesn't get rid of it, it's one of their best rifles.
I wish my Crosmans were as easy to disassemble/reassemble as the Daisy is.
-
Hmm, I actually did oil it (after I had chrony'd it actually) with some Crosman Pellgun oil, however I specifically didn't get any oil on the foam part... I cleaned some crap out of the barrel tonight and will try oiling it again tomorrow and if I get a chance run it over the chrony again.
-
Awesome! I oiled the foam part (and cleaned out the barrel) last night-- now I'm getting 543-550 fps with CPHP 14.3s! This is more in line with what I was expecting. Thanks for the great advice!

Looks like I need to get some Pellgunoil next time I'm at Walmart! I'll clean out my barrel tonight too!

Your local walmarts carry Pellgun oil? I haven't found any in the Austin area that do.
..now if I can only lighten up the trigger...
