Hey AA S410 shooters! What is your preferred pellet for shooting targets and small game (rabbits, squirrels) with the AA S410 / 22 cal using the rotary magazine? Should I be lubricating the pellets (Pledge?). I have been doing a bit of plinking since I got it for Christmas. I am sighted in and shooting ragged half-inch holes at 25 yards with CPL's, RWS Superdomes, or Beeman FTS. I haven't done any critical shooting over the chrony or at target distances over 25 yards. And even at 25 yards, I haven't shot more than eight or ten 10-shot groups for best groupings. I have whacked 6 squirrels and a rabbit, all but one with head shots, though. I can't wait to get this on a 50 yard range and start tweaking.
PS: Out of curiosity, anybody have any experience turning the power way down and shooting wad cutters at 10 meters with the AA S410 ERB? One drawback I can think of pretty quickly -- the big old Hawke Scope Joe sold me isn't optimal for 10-M shooting. I can get it to focus down to 10-M on low power by adjusting the reticle focus, though.
Any pellet / power setting or lubricant suggestions for a DarkSider new guy?

Hey, Tommy, stay away from wadcutters with a 410, or most other magazine fed guns, for that matter. By all accounts they don't feed well, can tear up breech seals, and are not recommended by Air Arms. Don't know about the .22, but my .177 400E likes CPH's and Eun Jins, there are a few others that shoot okay, but these are the best. Mine's fixed power, but my Cyclone does real well on low power shooting in my shop. I usually figure 40 shots on high, on low it's more than double that. Boring, though, at 10 yards everything goes through the same hole :-).
BTW, you taking that rifle to the shootout? I've always had a weakness for thumb hole stocks :-). Later.

Thanks. Yes, think I will bring the AA, but remember, it is a lefty. LOL, I just moments ago missed #7. The intruder was at the feeder, but my angle was such that the shot wasn't safe. Then he ran down the back of the tree and across the yard. I did get off a "running shot" but apparently didn't lead him enough, and he escaped into the bushes. Oh well, he will have to be target practice for another day.
I take it you do not lubricate your pellets.

Oops, missed that part of your post. No, I don't clean, weigh, sort, or lube my pellets, just load and shoot. Oh, sure, I look at them before loading, and if one looks crunched I'll toss it. Maybe if I was shooting competitively and was trying to eek out that last bit of accuracy I'd go there, but pretty much all the pellets I bother to keep shooting have been more than good enough. I'm defining good enough here as MOA or better out to 50 yards. Either of my PCP's is capable of that, and so am I most of the time :-). An occasional flyer is just that, occasional, and if I'm shooting the 400, a lot of the time I'll know it's coming, either the pellet is really hard or really easy to load. A little tougher to tell with the Cyclone, but that thing wants to shoot everything well. BTW, did you know it's very easy to make a Cyclone south paw friendly? At least the synthetic stocked version. Might want to keep that in mind for your next PCP ;-). BTW, I can shoot left handed, too. Later.

Tommy, I shoot either JSB's, FTS or Accupels from my .22 ERB.I'm not sure what I will use when the Accupels are gone since I can't seem to find them anymore and they are very accurate. Mine is the earlier bolt action not the side lever. A while back I experimented with lubed vs non-lubed pellets in my Logun MKII. I saw no real appreciable increase in accuracy and it was just another step to do. I tried Pledge, FP-10 and a couple others. I think that weighing the pellets would be more of a help than lubing them. But that's just me. Others swear by lubed pellets in their PCP's. Dave is right that there is a chance you can damage the seal more quickly with WC's. I don't know how easy/hard it is to replace the breech seal on AA 410 series guns.

TCups...I had only used two types of pellets in my .22 AA410s carbine....the first were the Daisy Precision Max wadcutters....actually not too bad for 20 meter shots....but stopped using them after I read that pellets with an edge, like a wadcutter can ruin the seals in a multi-shot airgun. Now I just have Crosman Premier Hollow Points...the 625 count ones that come in a cardboard box. The gun is very accurate with them even out to 30 meters if I do my part. I haven`t shot further than that...but I`m confident that I can reach out to 50+ meters with those pellets. I don`t wash, wax or weight my pellets....maybe the weighting part will even make those pellets even more accurate.
