Has anyone done this? I am thinking about doing this with my nephew. I don't have any kids of my own and thought this might be a way of passing the "torch" as it were.

I think it is a terrific idea, but I would suggest trying to find local matches.  There is so much talent around it is amazing what you can pick up from these people.  I've had the pleasure of shooting with members of the US Army Marksmanship Unit, Jamie Beyerle who was on the US Olympic team for the Beijing Olympics as well as national champions, numerous Presidents 100 and Distinguished Riflemen, and NRA High Masters.
