: Didn't IZH.....
: DanoInTx January 31, 2009, 07:19:31 AM
......sell a SSP rifle here in the US up until a couple years ago?  Seems like I saw them a bunch on retail websites, then they dissappeared to nowhere.  I did a websearch and found a little bit about a gun that may have been sold here, but couldn't really find any specifics or pictures or whatever.  Just curious if this was a real gun or if my mind just invented it for me:)  A full rifle version of the IZH-46(M) would be awsome, I know my own 46M was a real tack driver.

Oh yea and Peak, if you are reading this, with all of the new target gates I am really starting to miss my Tau-200 :( :( :( :(

And what's wrong with the S200?  I know you said you had 2 sets of those AR sights, so what's the problem, pal?  Get that big old CP off there are start practicing.  I'd do the same, but I'm waiting for my 853 to get here.  And that's my story, etc., etc. ;-).

Regarding the IZH rifle, that would be the MP 532.  You're right, it was being imported for a short time, but I think it got dropped due to lack of sales.  IIRC, it used basically the same action as the 46, just lengthened a bit and turned on it's side.  Either that, or I'm just having an hallucination.  I also seem to recall it was pretty anemic in the power department, even by match rifle standards.  Later.

I agree with Dave on the S200 . Go ahead and find a source for some sights to fit it so it'll save me the trouble when I get "my" S200 . As I understand it , the S200 is easy to turn the power down on . kirby

That Izzy rifle is indeed the MP-532 & it shoots about 140mps/462fps according to the company's website: http://www.baikalinc.ru/en/company/119.html .
That thing looks like it has adjustments for everything but the kitchen sink. I would imagine that a person could phone EAA & see if they would special order one but I ain't gonna' do it because even if they would order the thing I wouldn't be able to afford it!

Cool, I wasn't dreaming.  Not shopping either, just thinking and, uhm, plotting:)

Nothing wrong with the S200, would work out ok for the same use as the Tau-200, but the Tau just fit me so danged good and I want to keep my S200 turned up for regular shooting.  Once I had the stock adjusted correctly I could pick it up, eyes closed, slide it on like a glove, open my eyes, and blam I was looking exactly through the peep and through the front tunnel without adjusting my hold or cheak weld or anything, repeatable everytime like that.  It's one of the few guns I regret selling enough that I'd buy another one today if I had the cash.  When I sold it I wanted a bit more power for regular shooting, I even considered sending it to Mac1 for the PCP conversion, but then decided that there were better purpose built PCP's for that....now that I have regular shooting covered I am thinking about 10M again....it's an addiction:)

I have a smallbore rifle from Russia, the CM-2.  There are better, higher end rifles but the importer is not interested in bringing them into the US.
Parts are also a problem, but in general their rough exterior belies the quality where it counts.  I paid $401.64 for my NIB CM-2 in 2005.  It shoots as well as an Anschutz but lacks the adjustability of my 1907 which I think the CM-2 is on a level with but at about 1/4th the cost and when I consider that the CM-2 came with sights it was a steal.  Too bad that the nicer rifles are not imported.
I looked at some of the other rifles on that site and they look very nice.
