Been sitting here all afternoon watching the IRB world sevens series.
20 plus countrys compete in it.
Not something most yanks even know exsits.
"seven aside Rugby union"
The yank team is usaly just there to make up the numbers.
But this year you are giveing the top teams "NZ/SA/FIJI"a hurry up
and yer just beat Fiji. Lucky I don't bet would have got cleaned up.
Whats changed over there?..better coaching/rugby getting a bigger following?

i've heard they bathe in the blood of their opponents after a win,
that is one brutal sport, it's not televised over here all that often, but when i catch a rugby game on espn i do enjoy it

No, seriously, my wife works with a bunch of Aussies and they watch some kind of Austrailian Rules Football which was televised here for a while. Watched a match or two. It's really not that different from American Football.......................just without the pads and helmets. :D

Bill....rugby is a version of your yank football that is played by the rest
of the world " but it nothing like your game" no hats/pads etc.
there are 3 versions of rugby 15 aside main game then theres a 7 aside version
less players on the feild its a lot faster and then there's another code/takeof of rugby union
called rugby league 13 players aside that is the game that is most like your yanky football
very stop/start.
now yer even more comfused..lol

Thanks all, to my updated information!
I thought that it was played with rocks !!! and bare footed, but I see that they use rubber balls, something like that Astic game, shootind balls throughholes carved in rocks, where the winners were sacrificed to their gods. For Winning :(
What a tough game ! I'll stick to football and airgun shootin :)

I have heard that a Rugby players average life span playing Rugby is only two seasons at best..LOL

I have always heard you have to have leather balls to play rugby.

PMSL....In my younger days I have left the feild more than once
spiting blood , limping, back opened by someones boot sprigs.
The blood was usely after some *_*_*_*_*_* blind sided yer with a right hook.
Its a bit better now..use to be legal brutelity"those were the days :0

You'll be needin a leather bladder to go with that if you try to keep up with their post game drinking. That's good for finishing off the survivors.

Hey Peter, up here where I live there is a big following, and seems to getting bigger every year. We live in Washington state right by the Canadian border. We have youth leagues that go up to Canada to play on the weekends. Several clubs have started here aswell. All still travel into Canada to play.
