: Timmyj1959@yahoo.com February 16, 2009, 10:24:14 AM
I will try to keep this short??:o A Friend of mine & a long time member here at GTA,,, Harry ("Only One Harry") had his Diana 350 stollen from him.:0 (LONG story) Myself & many others spent alot of time trying to recover Harrys gun,,,to no avail. I managed with help from others to get Harry a new gun. It has been a long road,,, I finally got one!!:D I will ship it to him as soon as I get done "testing" it LOL!!:p I want to give J Woodcock (3n00n)a BIG THANKS for all the work he did,, keeping me informed with all the phone calls to update me on all the differant results from MANY differant springs & various set ups untill he/we came up with what we both thought Harry would like.8) (He is a power monger Ya know!!) :p Harry,, to answer part of your question (Hunting Gate) it is a stock spring,, deburred, & J uses only Jim Maccari,s lubes. (J will have to tell Ya what all else he did) I finally was able to get to J,s house this weekend to pick up the gun,, & of course do some shootin with my Buddy J!!:D Heck,,, J even replaced a broken spring & tuned my Big Cat while I was there!!!!(That one,, along with another "present" will be headin to Ed "Shadow" soon!!) Im havin a hard time remembering all I want to say in this post,,,,, Mom is here visiting,,,,,gotta spend some time with her & the wife!!:o I HAVE to go start the grill now,, before Im in BIG trouble!!:o Tim.

Now this is a present I never expected!!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU... Tim & J.!!!!

I can't wait for this gun to arrive.  You are truly one very special friend Tim!! I 'm so lucky that you have J as a friend too!!  hehe

Please send me a list of everyone that has contributed towards the purchase of this gun, when you are done, or have all the info..  please!

Try not to pull a muscle or hurt your shoulder while you 're playing with the 350!   :o   It's still an Ultra-Magnum Springer don't forget ;)  Best leave it to us >6ft guys, you know? :o  :)
Looks really good in the pics!  I can't wait to get my hands on it.  I already told my wife she can't leave the house during the day and to look out for a BIG a*s BOX, hehe.  Of course she told me to take a hike..

I have the original RWS box and cardboard box the old one arrived in from Compasseco.  You want me to send them to you, in case you don't have a big enough box?  Shoot me an e-mail.

I wouldn't expect anything less from the family here at the GTA. That very thing is what keeps me here and not on the other forums. Excellent job Timmy my hat is off to you and J(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif)

For all the kind words!! Harry my Friend,,,,at this point it is a joint effort between J & myself. I did post on another forum what I was up to several weeks ago,,,,(I did not want you to know what I was up to & knew you were not a member there,,,,,,yet!!) ALOT of fine folks there offered to send donations to cover the costs!! :D  I have held off on accepting those donations,,,, it only makes sence to me to do so untill YOU post pics. of your new gun!! 8)  Once you get your new gun,,, I will try & figure out how to set up: A Harry,, "S-Crow" account!! :p  I will also add: (sorry,I have to) that,,,, in my quest to correct this wrong done to you,,,, My FRIEND "T-Cups,(Tommy) paid in full for a new 350 for my cause,,, it was going to be sent directly to you drop shipped from Long Island Airguns at dealer cost thanks to another DEAR FRIEND of mine Joe "Cuz". I cancelled the order :0  :o . (I was going to pay Tommy back) That was another behind the scenes "blunder" on my part in this long quest of mine,,,, only because I disrupted 2 of my Friends lives. I did NOT take my desision to cancell that order lightly,,,, as I had already arainged for a tune on that "new" gun,,, I knew you would be reluctant to send it off once you got it,,,,,,,, afterall,,,, thats how your first one was stollen.  No,,, I knew J had one that I had personally shot before,,, I knew it was nice,,, I knew J would turn it into what I knew you would like "Turn Key". :D  I think you are gonna like it!! (I do!!) :p  Sure wish I had a box to ship it in!!LOL!! :p  Your Huntin Buddy in SC,, Tim.     (Whackey Tim as Joe calls me!!) :p

You said it Cody, Jason, Jorge and others!  This has always been my favorite forum and consider it my "other home".  The people here are among the best!

I had it a felling it was Tommy that financed this effort!  hehe.  Thanks doc Tommy!!

Whacky Tim.. I kind of like the sound of that  :D   Tim:  Check your e-mail.  I got the original RWS box and outter box it was double-boxed in.  Send me your address and you 'll have them in a couple of days.  I can't find your address.  Please send it to me.

Tommy did not finance "this deal",,,, he did the original one I cancelled however. Tommy is a GREAT person with a heart of Gold,,,, I did not take advantage of that & "financed" this deal on my own. WORD. Im sure Tommy is STEAMIN mad at me now,,,, sorry Buddy.  I will go check my E-Mail now. How do I get myself into these kind of messes for tryin to be nice?? :0  Like I always say,,,,, no matter how hard Ya try to do the right thing,,, your always gonna have someone mad at Ya?? :o  Joe knows,,,,,, we have talked about it at lenth,,,,, besides the obvious "adictive personality",,,, everyone just wants to be "Liked". Guess what,,,,, Im gonna sleep REAL good tonight,,,,,with Harrys new 350 leaned up right next to my bed!! :p  "Whackey Tim". 8)
: Re: New Gun For A Friend.
: only1harry February 16, 2009, 01:46:31 PM
Sorry Tim, I misunderstood!  Now I got it (I think).. Tim financed the first gun, which never arrived after you placed the order with Joe Cuz, because you cancelled that order with Joe, and Joe probably had to cancel the order with his distributor.. this is after you found out that J would tune & sell his 350, so Tommy might gave gotten a little ticked off, and probably needs to get his $ credited back to him, while you made the deal with J who agreed to help out..  (how is that for a runnout sentence?).  How am I doing so far?  hehehe  Just messing w/you buddy!  It's the thought that counts!!  You were just looking for the right gun for me, and you made the right decision!  Tommy and Joe understand.  There sure seem to have been several twists in your quest to find the right 350, that's for sure :)
Trying to do something nice for someone does not always work out perfectly.. Don't worry, you have not done any real damage, hehe.  It's the end result that matters!  I cannot believe you went through all that for me.  How am I going to repay you?  I think I have a few things in mind when you come up North   :o   8)
: Not so sure about 'tuned' but . . .
: 3n00n February 16, 2009, 01:47:48 PM
. . . the 350 got a Tesla seal (http://www.airguns.citymax.com/catalog/item/251485/834672.htm) with ARH lubes (http://www.airguns.citymax.com/catalog/item/251484/6651156.htm) {like a certain 34 with a GRT kit (http://www.airguns.citymax.com/catalog/item/251488/2514146.htm)}, and the Gamo got a Merlin XL (http://www.airguns.citymax.com/catalog/item/251488/4452198.htm) with ARH heavy tar (http://www.airguns.citymax.com/catalog/item/251484/42985.htm) on the guide.
The Gamo smoothed out well and shoots pretty nicely at 12fpe now.
`
Quite a few soda cans full of waterwere severelyinjured during chrony testing of the 350, and as Timmy said, 80 meters - over the chrony -with many different pellets.
`
16 grain JSB Exacts 5.52 {weighed} shoot about 795fps+/- 7fps {~22.5fpe}These terminateda lot of cans!
`
21.1grain Beman Kodiaks .22 {weighed} shoot about 690fps+/- 9fps {~22.3fpe}These terminateda few cans.
`
14.3 grain JSBExpress 5.52 {weighed} shoot about 835fps +/- 10fps {~22.2fpe} These terminated several cans.
`
14.3 grainCrosmanPremier .22 {weighed} shoot about 825fps +/- 15fps {~21.6fpe} These terminated a few cans.
`
12 grain Hobby .22 {weighed} shoot about 890fps+/- 10fps {~21.1fpe}
`
16.4 grain JSBPredators 5.52 {weighed} shoot about 760fps+/- 12fps {~21.0fpe}
`
Lemme know wha'cha think about it, but as for me {at 6'}- I still think the ol' side levers and38fit me a l'il better . . . (http://../images/emoticons/wink.gif)

J, when were those #'s taken? I have found that #'s taken shortly after the tune tend to be higher than those after around 700 or so shots. Have heard that anytime you tune, you need to give it a "break in" period again. I too had some nice FP on a .22 I tuned, up in the 20's, but after 1K worth of shots, re-chronyied and found the true FP near to 16 instead. The nice thing was that the spread was under 9 fps as far as velocity, showing the tune itself was successful in smoothing out and making more consistent the firing cycle.
: 50 - 100 pellets a day for 3 weeks.
: 3n00n February 17, 2009, 07:23:43 AM
After the seal went in, 19/20fpe. About 1500 or so pellets, it's up to 22+fpe . . .
`
Seems to be settling in, although it may creep up justa bit more.
: Just Now,,,
: Timmyj1959@yahoo.com February 17, 2009, 08:22:05 AM
Ran some more tests on Harrys new gun,,,, :p   15 shot strings. JSB exacts,,,couple fps faster than J,s #,s,,,,,,CP,s,,, couple fps faster than J,s #,s again. 10 shot string with JSB Peds: Av. vel.   769 fps. Max dev. 13 fps. =21.67 ft. lbs. :D  (Even taking into account that J & I know from testing that my chrony average readings are about 2-3 fps faster than his) this test would still indicate a slight increase in power. (About a hundred rounds,, 2 dead Nutters,, & 2 missed Crows :0  later!!) 8)  (Im a lousy shot freehand!!) I sure am gonna miss this gun :0     Tim. 8)  8)  8)
: RE: Just Now,,,
: only1harry February 17, 2009, 10:13:29 AM
Thanks for tuning the 350 for me Jay!!  I hope to meet you in person one day, and maybe return the favor somehow.  You are a very special person in my book.

Thank you also for the stats with different pellets - looks great to me!  Couldn't be happier. I really did not want a monster shooting 24+fpe.  I prefer a more accurate smooth shot cycle gun now.  My "power monger" days with Springers, as Tim called it, are in the past after I found out what Gene's 14fpe .177 Springer can do with deadly accuracy on a dozen Groundhogs.

I also think that once the lubes thin out a little, and the seal expands and makes a nice fit, the power will creep up a bit more but it's find where it's at.  So keep shooting Tim - you 're doing a great job breaking it in for me buddy!   :)   Just be careful, you scratch it, you buy it!  hehehe
: Scratch It??
: Timmyj1959@yahoo.com February 17, 2009, 10:17:21 AM
Heck,,, I already carved 2 big notches in the stock,,, 2 Nutters Down!! :D  :p  2 missed Crows?? :0  Tim.

You are just as much a "Power Monger" as always Harry!! :p  Truth be known,,,, you adapted well to Genes 14 ft lb 36,,,,,Ya took many a Ground Hog with it!! :D  You & I both know 20 ft lbs can do AMAZING things in the right hands!! 8)  8)  8)  J & I set up this 350 the way that you,,& ONLY you,,, will surely,,, GET ER DONE!! Tim. 8)

Not here yet J.  Tim 's been shooting it a lot and won't ship it!!  And yesterday he said he was driving over to Gene's because his dog passed away.  So Tim is just taking his time..

Nah actually I sent Tim the original RWS box, double-boxed the way the old 350 came from Compasseco, so that he woudn't go through the trouble looking for boxes or having to purchase a new one.  He should have it tomorrow at the latest so I probably won't get the gun until next week    :0   But hey I can wait!  hehe.
I 'll let you know.. Thanks J!!

Ok it's a deal Tim.  As soon as the wife starts talking to me again, I 'll ask her (on a good day) to take a pic of me and the 350, hehe.
She 's really PO'd cause she found out I have 3 Condors, not 2 like she thought  :o  So I was busted big time!  She realized the one I was shooting yesterday (the .25) had a red Flashlight on it and said she could swear she saw a blue flashlight (on the .22!) on it the other day.  I told her I just swapped them, that's all.  Those 2 Condors look identical (to her anyway, not me), plus I have the Lemak .25 with the OAK stock.  She went and looked when I was out and found all 3 so I 'm in big trouble right now.  I need to get a big gun Vault with a combination lock so she won't ever know what the hek I got in there  8)

Y ou people in this place are really something, a very nice thing to do for someone. My wife thinks i'm nuts for spending money on my own gun , tricking it out. It's nice to see i am not the lone wolf but one of many very good people! good for you!
: Re: New Gun For A Friend.
: only1harry February 20, 2009, 02:21:50 AM
You 're on the top of my list Phil!  hehe.  I have added more locks to my front door and motion detectors around the house hooked up to a siren.  I must protect the Diana 36 at all cost!!   :D

I 'll make you a deal.  If you let me hang out at a window in your house for 3 or 4hrs this summer, to get a crack at one of your Groundhogs, I 'll let you take a few shots with the 36, how is that?  What am I saying?  I 'll probably never be seen again!   :o  :p
