: Chrony'd my new 890 .177
: longislandhunter January 10, 2007, 02:18:53 PM
Finally got a chance today to chrony the GAMO 890 .177 that I got a few weeks ago from Cabelas for $129 bucks.  I already have the gun sighted in for Predators but it basically shot every pellet I had with great accuracy.  Chrony results are below.

Originally I typed all the chrony data but when I posted it it came out all "squished" togeather.  I think I have a better way though, I tried posting pics of the chrony sheets I filled out,,, hope it works.

I know a couple of other guys on the forum also bought this rifle during Cabelas sale so I thought I'd post the chrony results.  Spent about an hour and 1/2 in the backyard during the practice session,,,, was so cold by the time I was done I could barely feel my fingers, but it was worth it, I  love shooting this gun.  Only thing I've decided to change on the gun is the trigger,,,, decided to  order one of Charlies (Bob's) GRT triggers as soon as I can.

Hey Jeff

I am impressed with those numbers. Did not realize that the 890 had same power plant as the shadow.. Now I wish I had bought one. I just read over the posts and went on my way. :) That will teach me.. hehe

How is the accuracy? at various distances?

Hey Gene,

The gun is very accurate, matter of fact the other thing that impressed me is that it shot evey pellet I have in stock really well.  I posted a "review" on the gun after I sighted it in.

Probably gonna take it out squirrel huntin this week.  Was gonna take it tomorrow morning but a friend of mine called tonight and asked me to go goose hunting with him in the morning so the squirrels will have to wait.  Have hardly touched any of my shotguns this season, been to busy with the air guns,,,, I had to go searching the basement to find and gather my powder burner goose huntin gear.  Much simpler with the airguns, me some pellets and free air :)

I think I just sprained my back kicking myself (AGAIN!) for NOT getting one of these!  By the time I decided I just HAD to get one, Cabela's was sold out.  Oh, well, I'm having fun with the gas ram I got instead.

Superdomes and Crow Mags are the only ones on your list that I've shot in my CFX.  When my guns right, it shoots just about the same, maybe 10 fps slower.  It'll be interesting to see what it does with a new piston seal.

I can't remember, have you used one of Charlie's triggers in any of your other guns?  If not, you're in for a treat.  Plus it looks cool.  Later.

I bought the same gun as you and so far it shoots all the pellets I have tried very accurately. I don't have a chrony but I was expecting the FPS to be around what you got out of yours. I was shooting at a steel post in our back yard the other day, it was about 50 yards, and the pellets were leaving a pretty good dent in the steel at that distance. This is going to be one of the best hunting rifles I have, and for the price I paid it makes it even better, I got mine for $109.00 because Cabela's sent me a $20.00 cupon off anything over $100.00 just a couple of days before I bought the rifle.

Thanks for posting your chronograph results, my rifle's FPS might not be the same as yours but I'm sure it's pretty close.

Thanks Bill
