Our hosts Jim and Heather could not have been nicer people, or better stocked with eats! This was supposed to be a planning session, but turned into a shooting spree. There was just too much hardware around to resist!
We had some great background music, too! The local Vice Squad band rocks- and covers any muzzle noisethat might sneak through the fence.
-
ummmmmmmmm,..old i may be. but my eyes see no pics,,,?
-
I had fun! I look forward to the next time we can get together. I'll make sure to be off duty we need to find a place where we can shoot at some field targets. I'll start asking around.
-
Had some pic challenges but they should be up there now. HTML is smarter than me, shoulda had julieshoot do it... she really enjoyed it, too! PS, I left my duct seal box in your yard!!! Enjoy the heck out of that until the repo man comes!
Seriously man, shoot it up!!!
Anyway, we had as much fun as those eastern guys plus I think I sold a couple Marauders... for Crosman! I'm keepin' #39!
-
I had fun at the airgun meet and greet BBQ it's just too bad I had to leave early. I would like to host one at my place the second Saturday of June as I have a lot of room to BBQ and target shoot, let me know I live in El Cajon Ca 92021.
-
Great pics....!!
Dave...I found two sources for a HAWKE Eclipse 30 6-24x50 SF Riflescope, Matte Black w/Illuminated Mil Dot Centre Reticle..!!!
Great price,as well...now all I need is a rifle to stick it on....ha ha..
CBR400RR....2nd Saturday in June works for me...!!
-
hey guys,...once again thanks to all who attended and made this a successful first gathering.
heather had a blast shooting, first time shes ever shouldered a rifle or fired a pistol. im pretty proud of her,.....after a brief course of instruction she was quickly bracketing the bull on paper targets and killing cans. heather fell in love with crazyhorses 1377, with that in mind, im sure of what my next purchase will be.
ive decided an accurized, 1377 0r 2300 ( no pumping needed ) with a carbine stock, and a bug-buster scope will be heathers new gun.
cbr,........i'll be in touch as i find out what my weekend schedules like.
jeff, rich........expect a phone call this week.
dave.......i'll likely ne in north county sometime this week......i'll bring your pellet trap with me !!
-
Hey Richard!
If you haven't looked here yet, check this guy outL http://www.kyhistoricsalvage.com/Price_List.pdf (http://www.kyhistoricsalvage.com/Price_List.pdf)He is a certified air gun good guy.
The Eclipse side focus was right about where you wanted to be.
-
Yep...his price is same as I found for side focus 6-24x50 ((HK3273)...
Thanks Dave...
-

-
jorge, it was a privelege hosting the bbq. fantastic people, each and everyone !! very informal, lots of stories to exchange and plans for more local bbq/shoots in the works. ever make it to san diego, consider yourself invited !!
-
Way to go guys. Looks like a great turnout with lots of good conversation, food and enjoyment. Nice bunch of good looking shooters. Hope you guys can have the shoot outs more often. Keep us informed when you are gonna have another shooting event.
I am sure many of us wish we could attend but maybe sometime in the future.
-
Maybe we can set up a live teleconference with GTA headquarters for the next one! Giant Gene & Charlie faces beaming down from HD monitors, inspiring the troops!
We are lucky to have a venue like GTA where we can put this together. It is great to find like-minded people (and their marvelous toys) within driving distance.
-
my kind of people!
-
thank you sir,...it was an undeniably great bunch of folks that attended !
-
too bad im in wisconsin...
-
I think it's great to have get-togethers like that, looks like you gents & ladies enjoyed yourselves, that's what is important,I'm impressed with how many people have come together through GTA! :)
-
This is a great forum for promoting airgunning...!!
-
Actually, these events are very dangerous (financially). (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif)Everyone leaves with a longer wish list!
Now julieshoot wants a fancy schmancy laminated stock like Andy's for the Crosman, Jim's wife wants a new pistol, crazyhorse is shopping Marauders, jeff commited mentally to 3 or 4 different springers, and we won't even discuss what I added to my list. This was a whole economic stimulus package in one Santee garage!
-
...Before the Maurader.....
I'm having one of my rifles converted as we speak by a friend in Texas...this bad boy has been in development for past several months...testing is now complete and I should get delivery by mid-July....it will run on HPA...3000 PSI fill shooting 950 FPS regulated .177 cal (or 910 FPS in .22 cal....)
Only change besides HPA/tune will be a LW match barrel and custom wood stock....here is pic of final product...and performance/accuracy will be guaranteed....I'm putting a Hawke Eclispe 6-24x42 mil dot on it...ordered scope yesterday...
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y208/richwoods/Turkeys/HPA.jpg
-
Nice Rich very nice.... I told you that wood stock would look nice on that gun.
-
Wow! Great pics! Looks like you guys had a GREAT day! Thanks for posting- I had a blast just looking at what you'd posted!
Matt

Our area has no organized air rifle groups/clubs....So our "Meet & Greet" host Jim has taken a major step in San Diego getting airgunners together...and this first event was very successful....
There is only one other person trying by hosting bench rest matches at a local range...he had one last January...and next is June 7...but that has been the only organized air rifle events locally...
I truely think the "Meet & Greet" concept will go a long ways to getting air rifle fun events going in San Diego county........
-
Don't forget my meet/greet/shoot/BBQ Saturday the 13th.
I'm also looking to get a few more guns, I need a Mac-1 tuned .22 Disco, a .50-Caliber Dragon Slayer, a .25 Daystate Air Ranger and a .25 Theoben Rapid 12
-
I am at South Bay and we shoot every Wednesday night at the San Diego City Police Range All of you are welcome to come and shoot with us. I am interested in your group, It seems that we can combine 10 meter shooting and recreational plinking
Dan Ang

Where do you hold your get together? I shoot with Howard Pray and he is a regular competitor at Project 2000 in El Cajon
Glad to join GTA
-
I'll try to drop by tomorrow..that is off Home Ave.....what time...???
Our Meet & Greet was the first...seems there is another in El Cajon June 13...CBR400RR is hosting the next one...PM him for details..he mentioned it in this thread...
-
danang....It was great meeting you this evening and your airgun group...thanks for inviting me...I'll chat with our new group about your suggestions...and good luck Friday about use of the range you mentioned. I'll see you next week...oh...about those two shots in the 10 ring...that was sheer luck on my part...!!! LOL...
Rich
-
Rich
That is not luck It shows you how good is the barrel of your rifle. Very consistent even your projectile is split.
To me that is a sign of that barrel will shoot even the cheapest pellet
DAn

dan,..welcoem to the forums and the san diego contingency !! theres another bbq taking place the 2nd week of june. scott, (cbr400rr) will be the host for this one. consider yourself an invited guest !!
-
Heard about the San Diego shooters and thought I should head over to GTA and sign up. Looks like a great group! Is there a group that really gets to use the police range??
In any case, thanks Dave S for the email and invitation to join the forums. Hope to have some time to meet the crew at some point.
-Casey
-
Casey, welcome to GTA!
crazyhorse (Richard) has been the point of contact for the PD range, which sounds excellent. He's the guy flipping shrimp.
triry (Jim) was our host at the kick off session. He is wearing a skull.
And the next outing was being put forward by CBR400RR (Scott), with the pretty stock on the 1377, and presumably his capable son Evan.
If you PM any of these guys you will get a response! You can click the username for the PM option or regular email.
Unfortunately I am out of town 11th to the 17th.
-
Casey welcome to the SD crew. This looks like it may be the start of something great. Glad to have you on the ground floor lets see where this group goes.
-
My contact (Danny) at the 10 meter match held at the SDPD pistol range is inquiring about use of the outdoor range on Saturdays for FT air rifle use...it appears SDPD do not train on that part of the range......he is very keen on promoting airgun activities and groups...I volunteered to be the go between so our Meet & Greet group knows about developments...
BTW..thier 10 meter match is a real neat set up...indoors. ...and really nice people to meet...Matches every WED 5-8 PM...
-
now this,...is simply amazing !! im glad to see that so many san diegans are coming forward to support this mutually loved sport.
after speaking with rich (crazyhorse) this morning, i took the liberty of contacting some of my former peers in the LE community . i think we may have far more support on hand than is realized.
i think its paramount that an ongoing forum of interest is maintained as well as continued participation in our upcoming meet-n-greets. looking forward to meeting more of you !!!!!!
-
Maybe we could get a local subforum here on GTA as a area to post local happenings. I know we have the SoCal forum but I think that's more designed and in the spirit of shooting matches. I'd like to see it part of this board because of the traffic this sight gets and the wealth of information it provides from and for it's members.
-
jon,..i concur.
we've used up quite a bit of bandwidth for the san diego contingency of late. my only concern though is that by moving to a location specific forum, we may lose some exposure for those not yet familiar with GTA.............your thoughts..?
-
The question I had was stay here at GTA but have a subfolder for san diego. I know the have the SoCal subfolder but that is for shooting events. Maybe they could create one just for the san diego folks to gather since the herd is growing. Just a thought.
-
I suggest for the time being,we keep things as they are...and start a new thread re our next San Diego Meet & Greet event right here....we should continue posting results/pics of our Meet & Greets in this Airgun Gate forum for the exposure...lets take baby steps first....and let things evolve....also,it may create ideas for others on the forum in thier local areas and that would be good for the GTA communuty.....
If we create a sub folder,it will get buried in cyber space...
-
Good feedback that's why I threw the idea out there. I think your right about the fact that it could get lost in the cyber jungle outthere.

Hey guys, there is a Southern California Shooting Events Forum here.
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=27
-
We knew that...
-
okay,..lol......we been moved. maybe as a collective group, we can seek out genes generous side and ask that san diego gets its own "regional events page" . as a whole, san diegans of late have posted far more for our recent and ongoing meet-n-greets than has the whole california membership in general. we can still post on the airgun gate and direct members to the southern california, or the possible san diego forum as events arise.
i believe that its encumbent on san diegans to foster and promote our own growth, a continuing dialogue, events and meets will do that.
any thoughts from you san diegans ?
-
I was thinking San Diego could get it's own forum apart from the SoCal one to avoid confussion and support the local effort along with supporting GTA thanks Gene for a great website where we can all meet and shoot and share stories.

-
gene, you are indeed a man with a generous heart. for my peers here in san diego.... ( lol...thats spelled .....S A N D I E GO ) ....thank you !! we as group will endeavor to promote the GTA family, enthusiasm and ideals that you have established !!
-
Hey Jim, it has always been the GTA's intention to build up the air gun community. A place to grow. learn, and meet great people and make friends along the way. You guys have fun and we want more pictures and event...hehe PS, I fixed SanDiego...:)
-
All members specially Rich we can use the police range on Saturday from 12 to 5 pm. The cost is 5.00 per shooter We can set up field targets and other fun way of utilizing our air rifle,The best thing is we are not limited to the power of our air rifle Anybody who has the 50 and 9mm big bad air rifle can shoot
-
grins...dan thanks for the legwork with sdpd !! now i have the perfect reason to get started with heathers new "shooter". today was the last day of b/b for my son, so we'll definitely have more time on hand.
-
Dan welcome to the bunch! Thanks for helping us get a local place to shoot. I see big things happening in San Diego.........Now we need to acquire a bunch of field targets and get a match going.....
-
jon,..talked with rich yesterday,,,,,,,,,he's already aquired a number of field tagets and has access to more. now i have to find some time to sight-in my "shooters" !!
-
Maybe next weeks meet and greet should be at the sdpd range..... We could have a official kick off shoot. Just a thought.
-
Wingman...
CBR400 has already volunteered for the next Meet & Greet at his home on Saturday June 13th...plus,he has posted same here at GTA and elsewhere.....and some others have RSVP to him already who don't post here...

Can you make our next Meet & Greet at CBR400's house on June 13th...??? The group can discuss a date then for our f irst FT at the SDPD range..
Thanks again,
Rich
-
I will see if I can make it to one of the Wednesday shoot nights.
-
There are picnic tables and a place to barbecue All we have to do is bring in the goodies. Just let me know so I can check the schedule. If the Police Range is a central location for most of us this will be a great place because parking and restroom are provided. The best excuse to enjoy San Diego weather and be happy. Scott , Rich see you Wednesday so we can discuss more this event
Dan
-
I better practice on that gamo knock down target to get ready! Hey Rich in a field target match how far out do they post those targets?
-
Under AAFTA rules from 10 to 55 yards....I participated in a "casual" FT match last April where some targets were stretched out to 70 yards...but most clubs follow AAFTA rules for FT and HFT....
-
Well I better top of the co2 and practice..LOL
-
Hey guys,
I'd like to get in on the action as well if you don't mind another shooter. I've recently acquired a few springers and would love to bump elbows with others who have the same interest. Not to mention having some where to shoot other than my backyard. I'll be sure to keep an eye on this thread for upcoming events.
Eric
