I've gotten official confirmation for our Sunday, February 28th Fun shoot, target shoot, run what your brung etc shoot at the Pine Valley Bible Conference Center.

Their coordinator is sending me waiver/consent forms in the mail and I will distribute them at the shoot.  I will review when I get it but I suspect it's a standard type of form that they use for their paintball activities.

The shoot time will be from 9:30am - 2pm.  I plan to arrive by 9am to check-in, file any papers and put up some signs for the venue area.  The daily usage fee is $12 which can be remitted in CASH only at the center's office so plan to check in there first.  Our group event is the 'San Diego Field Target Club - February Shoot'.

If you plan to come or even THINK you might come please let me know along with your name and number of shooters so I can communicate the approximate numbers to the camp.  They are fine with any size group but I'd like to give them a heads up. We have their full endorsement and as long as we are good guests this could be a regular venue (pending everybody's thoughts about the distance, layout, cost etc).  I plan to write up an FAQ of sorts for the day of the shoot but I've also covered most of it in the previous thread.  If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know!

I got the waivers in the mail over the weekend.  I'll have a stack of them at the venue but I'll scan into PDF tomorrow and email to you if provide me with your address.  Either way works.  We'll submit that form along with the $12 cash and we'll be good to go on shoot day. Plus it looks like the waiver is good for this and all future uses of the field so we'll only have to fill it out once.  Let's pray the weather holds up - haven't gotten away to shoot like this in a LONG time!  If you have any questions let me know.  Shoot time is 9am-2pm.

Sounds good....I plan to put some signs up to guide you in.  But please check in at the front first to pay.  I'm hoping as they get used to us I can just collect the money at the field and then drop it by after.  But for now we'll have to pay up front until we can demonstrate our trustworthiness :-)

Sounds like 5 of us so far - Jon, Rich, Steve, Eric and me.  Still hoping the rain blows through quick!  I'm cash, gun and supply poor at the moment but I'll bring some Quigley targets for fun aka kids sand pails. :-)  If memory serves would should be able reach out to 75-100 yards if we get the line of sight set up.  Time for some Yrrah style groups :-)

Casey...do we enter this facility from west end of Pine Valley off Old Hwy 80 by the bridge.....??  I'm thinking Pine Creek Rd...just want to be sure...

: Re: Save the date
: Casey.Robertson February 25, 2010, 05:52:58 AM
I think it's the 'west' end.  You go 8 East and get off at exit 45 (Pine Valley Rd).  Turn left to head into the little town.  left on old highway 80 then a sharp right onto Pine Creek Rd.  Here are general directions along with Google Map from San Diego.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=San+Diego,+CA+92108&daddr=8668+Pine+Creek+Road,+Pine+Valley,+CA+91962+(Pine+Valley+Bible+Conference+Grounds)&hl=en&geocode=%3BFbYn9QEd1uMN-SHoKJo_HR16zynpaDJG6XvZgDEAfN0nTbQ_4Q&mra=ls&sll=32.827529,-116.533356&sspn=0.053732,0.060854&safe=on&ie=UTF8&z=10

You will go in the main entrance and dead ahead will be the main office building.  That's where you will pay and sign in.  I think the easiest way to get to the paintball field is to then exit the camp the way you came in, turn right on Pine Creek Rd (you'll be heading back the way you came in) and then turn right onto a kind of a side road that is before the main camp entrance.  That's where I plan to post one of the signs so that when you pay/check-in you can head back to that as a waypoint.  That reminds me, need to go get some flourescent signs this weekend :-)

No worries Rich - it's the least I can do.  Now when we host the state championships in a year then we'll need to talk about membership dues - LOL.  But seriously, if this venue works out or even if we find another at some point I'd like to get everybody's thoughts on an official club status with AAFTA.  Or do you think there are downsides to a sanctioned club as well?  Never done this before so curious as to thoughts.

No down sides i can think of....most of the work is setting up targets and shooting lanes...then maintenance to targets...I'll fill ya in Sunday from what I have learned being a Casa member...

: Re: Save the date
: Wingman115 February 27, 2010, 08:27:36 AM
Come on up just print the waiver. The Camp charges a 12 day fee. but to shoot and not be bothered to me it's worth it.
: Re: Save the date
: Casey.Robertson February 27, 2010, 08:40:48 AM
Hey guys..quick update.  I called the conference center today.  It's fine if we still go and I said barring an actual downpour I'll still head out there tomorrow morning.  Just plan on it being muddy and/or messy and plan accordingly.  Conditions might be a bit rough but we'll have a go of it.  Worst case we'll shoot a bit, scout the area and plan for the future.

Also, I had brought up the issue of pellet/lead waste when I first planned this with the camp.  They were not concerned but just today on the phone the lady I spoke with asked about traps or boxes to collect pellet debris.  I told her it's something we could work on but that I had not built anything of that nature yet.  So I think it's something we should all talk about going forward - enclosures for targets to help at least make an attempt at pellet debris collection.  It does make things more inconvenient but I think it would help us continue to be able to shoot there.  So don't worry too much about it this time but let's keep it on the radar.  Better to stay ahead of the rules/laws than try to catch up later I suppose.

So.... as of right now, 1:40pm PST on Saturday we are still on for tomorrow.  If you like, check in with me tomorrow on my cell phone before you drive.  That way if it's still pouring we can cancel in advance.  PM me if you would like my cell number.  I will post to GTA tomorrow around 7am too with the final go ahead so check if you can before heading out.

Yep, $12 and the waiver is all that's required.  Please make sure at least for now to bring cash - in the future perhaps we can pay by alternate means.  Waiver is posted earlier in the thread or you can fill one out when you arrive.  But no shooting without it.  Also, pellet rifles only, no powder burners of any kind are allowed.

Look forward to meeting you!

Thanks guys Im looking forward to it, its a long drive but I think I will be able to make it. Should I bring anything other than rifles/pellets? I have one of those steel traps and a "quiet" trap...but very few targets, I can bring them though if need be.
: Re: Save the date
: autoduel February 27, 2010, 01:26:48 PM
I would bring a paper target holder if you plan on sighting or shooting groups.
We have plenty of reactive targets and paper.
Casey, can we park next to the shooting line or will I need a bin to cart everything in?

It's a short walk downhill - the shooting area/paintball field is in a ravine or riverbed of sorts.  So a bin might be a good idea.  Expect it to be mucky guys - not for the faint of heart tomorrow!  I will have an advantage because my Vulcan's trigger already feels like it has sand and mud in it - LOL.

Just bring what you can - the traps might be nice until we can figure out how concerned they really are with the stray lead.  I don't think it will be an issue but you never know.  Hasn't rained in the last hour or two - I hope it stays away for the rest of the night!

They said it's D********ed far upstream so it's normally dry but yeah, since it's a low area it could be ugly.  I'm going regardless but I could end up at the Bread Basket in Alpine by 10:30 - LOL
