As some of you may allready know about this, a very portable USA made and cheap HPA compressor has arrived. Here is the guys facebook link that is building and selling them. They are supposed to be in production april 2010. looks like a lot of people are lining up for them.

Veeeeeeery Interesting. Sure looks like a nice way to fill the air tanks and the rifles. Will be nice to see if it can run off a power inverter hooked to the truck battery.
-
That sure would be the cats meow if ya can run from a battery. You would always have an air source that way other than an already filled tank or 3 stage handpump...
-
it has a small electic motor in the back of it that runs it. im sure you could run it off your car battery if you had the right set up in your car. i wouldnt suggest doing it though unless you were running the engine. If worse come to worse, you could easily run it off of a small generator.

Anyone see a preliminary price for this contraption?
-
Supposed to be around $500 I read...but that was some time ago

I haven't heard nothing about this compressor in along time. Even did a search and there's no new info on it.

I would think he wants to get patent rights to it long before it goes public...not knowing the gentleman personally,I know I would want to protect my invention to some degree...but lets wait and see,as he does have a working model and was in the process of getting all the parts in order to manufacture these compressors....remember this...there are an aweful lot of air gunners salivatating over this pump, not to mention the 1000;s of paintballers...how he's going to satisfy everyone will probably go along the lines of the Marauder air rifle and it's near cult following. Take a DEEP breath...this may take awhile...lol

running this pump in the great outdoors would be very difficult without an aircompressor to feed the pump so unless you have a really awsome 12 volt compressor which still might make filling just an air rifle a half a day job not bashing the pump in fact i want one just it may not cut it in the back woods with your cigaret lighter.
Q: I hear it needs another compressor?
A: Yes, it needs an 85 psi input from a shop compressor for maximum fill rate. If you don’t use a shop compressor it will take 6 times longer to fill a tank.
six times longer equals six days according to his 24 hours to fill a 85cf scuba tank to 3000 psi.
-
That's along time. Maybe better to run to the dive shop for a fill. I know some guys don't live near one, so this would be their option.

Great idea but at let's say $300initial purchase,I can get my scuba tank filled 60 times before I'd break even and that would take me years for that many fills. I'm not bashing it, just wouldn't fill my needs (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif)

Different strokes for different folks...:) I see where you are coming from Dave.. If it would fill a 3000 psi tank to 33 or 3400 psi then I would probably by it..:) May take a weekend to do one tank but it would be worth it for me. Wouls save me a 60 mile round trip to the scuba shop ..:) And they only fill to 3000 psi...:(

The long fill time assumes an empty tank, IIRC. None of us are going to run out tanks empty before filling. I'd only run mine down to about 2,500 psi before refilling it.
Buy a small compressor from somewhere like Northern. I bought a small Coleman there for less than 80 bucks for airbrush use. I put a water trap in the outlet line and will probably put a desiccant air drier after that. It's not a lot of cash outlay. It doesn't take much CFM to run it. You should be able to fill your rifle in short order with it, using a small airbrush type compressor.
I have a hand pump + 2 50cf tanks. I can use one while the other is filling. Fill the gun first, then use one tank while the other is being filled.

This would also let people buy out of hydro tanks, because they would be filling themselves.
