1377 w/ Red Dot 1X
.177 RWS Miester Pellets
Score: 78
I don't know about this 10 meter pistol match I feel the targets are to far away. My score stinks but even when I get a pellet close to the center of the target it's just by luck. Today I was so shaky the red dot looked like a red line .In the rifle matches after a shot I know if it was a good shot or not. In this match I have no idea until I get the target and look at it. I guess I need more practice or a new set of eyes.
-
Yep, open sights or only 1X magnification is hard to see. I also don't know where the shots went until I walk up to retrieve the target sheet. I just sight-in to make sure the pistol is zero-ed and plug away....never knowing where the pellets will land. Well, if I twitched I know that will be a bad shot.
Just practice...it'll get better. I was terrible when I started shooting the airgun matches...now I can say I improved 20 to 30%.

JD, your target looks just like mine from my 1377 and 1322 before I played with the trigger. If you haven't tried it, remove and squish (compress) the trigger spring down a bit to take some tension off the trigger. I avoided working on the other trigger bits on these but the lighter trigger pull made a HUGE difference in my groups after getting used to the new feel. Actually found that I needed to re-zero after the change. My zero had included some compensation for my tendancy to pull the gun along with the trigger.

That`s true what JQR typed. I did the exact same thing and lessened the poundage in the trigger. Just remember to PUT THE SAFETY "OFF SAFE"....there`s a very small ball bearing holding the "Safety assembly" together and that ball bearing will pop out if ON-SAFE. Charlie Da Tuna`s website have a good explaination on this.

Thanks for the tips. You're right now that I think about it, when I start to squeeze the trigger is when I feel my hands/arms fight themselves trying not to pull off the target to the left as I squeeze on the trigger. I just got done working on the 1377 a few weeks ago and have not had much time to shoot it, I done know when the trigger is going to break. The best way to say it is I feel like I'm fighting myself. I do all my events on Sunday this one is third most of the time. Thirty yard front rest last. Next week I'll try to do this one first and see what happens. I don't know why I know its the same thing but I feel like I would like it better if we were shooting a big target, one on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. I think that hitting other targets than the one I am aiming at is what I really don't like.

I was just reviewing the other matches. the ones I don't shoot and found the 10 meter target pistol match. That is just what I'm talking about Let me get some targets fix my trigger spring to be lighter and give this one a try

Yep, me too I like the big target better, but it gets harder to score the sheet if too many shots are bunched up together. I also tend to drift when there's lots of bulls on one sheet.
Originally we used the real Gamo targets....3 or 4 shots per bull depending on the match. Later on, someone found the Gamo5 target sheet on the net and most started to use that sheet. If you wish you can use the real Gamo targets for the matches.
-
That was my fault.... I actually made what we call the Gamo5 :-) Thank me or blame me !!! I was going through Gamo targets too fast and made that to practice on. I regularly use sheets with 30 - 100 targets per sheet when paper punching.
-
I didn't mean to sound like I complaining about the gamo 5 targets they are great for the rifle matches and I'm sure most people like them for pistol matches. I think the real problem is my inexperience more than the gamo 5 target.
