: AirArms S400C
: kirby999 July 06, 2007, 02:35:44 AM
Well , it finally arrived ! I got my new AirArms S400C after waiting over two months  for it to come in. And IMO the wait was worth it . It is by far the nicest looking air gun I've owned so far. (pics. to come later)  I have a match Sunday and wanted of course to shoot my new gun then, but my fill equipment will be here this afternoon and because of a death in my wife's family yesterday , this morning is the only time I'll have to sight it in. I noticed the gauge on the gun said it had 115 bar of air and thought I can at least get it on paper . So I scoped her and went out side and shot. It only took about ten shots to get  me centered and wow does it shoot nice . Most likely the nicest shooting airgun I've shot and definitely owned . It's not quiet , but it's not too loud either . It's no louder than my tuned QB78 and so far haven't had any problems with the neighbors . I think my Talon SS will be taking a back seat to this one. kirby

Wow Kirby I am jealous hehe. Steve Corcharan owns a AA S410 and an S200. When he brought his S410 to my house for the first shootout we had here in N. Texas I fell in love with that gun and decided if I ever get into the PCP guns that one will be the first one I will get hehe. Cant beat them L/W barrels for accuracy oh and did I mention that with a little holdover those silly AA's will shoot out to around 150 yards accurately? Thats just ridiculous man hehe.

Congrats on the new air rifle.  I have heard those are great airguns.  Post some numbers when you get a chance.

Congratulations David on a fine choice in air guns.
Those things shoot really well. Like John, if I had to go PCP, this would be my weapon
of choice.

Thanks Guys ; I finally got  to shoot my new rifle today in a couple of field target matches. After a hurried 10-12 pellets  final sight-in at the  range ( trying to beat the rain) I shot  a 20 target hunter course and shot a 13 ; my personal best so far . Then the rain picked up, off and on and we had cut the regular match to 20 targets instead of the normal 40   and I only shot an 8 but I think by that time , I was more concerned with keeping my new gun dry.  I started to just quit a couple of times and go back to the truck. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. I like the gun a lot. As much as the Talon was eayr to shoot well , this one shoots better, and the stock fits like a glove. kirby

Good shooting David, Well I'm pretty anal when it come to my "stuff"
Guns included, I don't like getting them too wet either. Specially when
they are new and expensive.

Yea, I had a nylon ripstop jacket I carried and when I wasn't shooting I covered it up . And when I home I pulled the action out and oiled everything that could have been exposed that even looked like it could possibly rust. I'll try to get a picture posted tomorrow.kirby

David,
Congratulations.

I have never seen one of those, or if I have then I did not know what it was.
It sure is nice looking, and sounds like it shoots great.

What are you going to buy next?
Hmm, I guess that also means what are you selling next also.
hehe

Now let's see. I just sold my Beeman R7, My QB78 , and a CZ 452 FS .22cal. powder burner and  have two more powder burners at the gun shop on consignment. And I have on order one of these  http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k171/kirby001/MPR003a.jpg . An Air Arms S400 MPR .  . I've decided I've rather have fewer but nicer airguns .  One day I want to get a nice 10 meter pistol and that should do me. kirby

Ok so I am not up on all in the AirGun world but is that a free rifle or?
It sure looks good from the pictures.
So when will we see it in your collection?
Have fun with those.

I wish ; Cost me about 3-4  gun sells hehe     Should be shipped next  Monday .   Oh,I get it , it took a minute Gordon ,The type of rifle; I'm a little slow tonight.  The rifle is a 10 meter as produced . But the Dealer is going to up the power on it to 12 ftlbs so I can shoot field target with it. They usually come at about 5-6 ftlbs . They also make this in a dedicated  F/T model but it would cost me another $4-$500 but would be more powerful at 16 ftlbs . Mine should shoot  at around 800+ fps with a 8.3g pellets for about 40-50 shots before having to refill with air. kirby

Free, free, free??  You really shouldn't give me that new AA400C for free, but it's ok....just this once I'll take it.  You're such a nice airgun bud!

Those are sure some nice ones for the collection, bet they shoot as good as they look.
: Field Target or Olympic
: July 12, 2007, 02:14:29 AM
OK I got it, but they all look so alike, and most likely cost nearly the same.
Looks great but won't the other rifles get jealous with it nearby?

Maybe I will get to see that beauty someday.
Have fun with it and shoot it often, Good Guns are made to shoot.

Comes from the factory set up in " Olympic" configuration , but I'm going to set it up for field target with the bump up in output. The guns that  are left won't be jealous , there's not that many. I feel that part of the fun of shooting is looking like you  know what you're doing; hehe, and an nice looking ,accurate gun helps keep that smile on your face too. kirby
: Chrony numbers for the AA400C
: kirby999 July 12, 2007, 04:20:52 AM
I got a chance to shoot the 400C this morning over the chrony and try a few different pellets.  I started  with about 160 bar on the air gauge, would have like to have started at at least 170 but my scuba tank needs toping off and this is the max I could fill with it. I started with RWS superdomes  and shot 5 pellets from 701.7fps to 797.5fps but the group wasn't that good , then I shot some CPL's at 795.4fps--804.8 fps and a one hole group.(I'll have to come back to those) Then I tried some heavies , some CPH's and they went way down in speed but were consistent at 687.1fps-- 689.4fps. ; Kodiaks were 722.1fps--737.2fps.and then I shot some JSB exacts and they produced some tight groups and some good numbers , I shot 30 shots with the low of 792.9fps and a high of 807.2 fps. altogether I shot over 65 shots before the speed dropped below the 790fps mark and that was in the high 780's . I think it would be safe to say I could get around 65-70 shots without a lot of drop in my POI. I refilled and shot some more of the JSB's and they started right at 790fps and started to get into the 800fps range after 4 or 5 shots. I then went back to the CPL's and they were grouping close enough to be able to swap between the JSB's and shoot the same POI and were shooting in the 800fps-812fps range. Very consistent gun to be unregulated . kirby

Thanks for posting the Chrony and pellet info.
I am not planning on getting one, but it is nice to know what they do and that is good information.
I am trying to get a Anschutz 54 match 22lr from an estate sale.
So it is may eat up my "gun Money" anyway, if I am so lucky as to get it.

That would be a nice .22 to own. I've  owned a couple of the low end Anschutz (one was a 1451 , I can't remember what the other one was , but it was a sporter)  . Some day I would like to own one of their match air rifles. kirby

I have my hopes up.
I may know something this Saturday.
The club I belong to has a smallbore silhouette match and some of the folks from the club in
Columbia come down to take the match winner prize home with them.
I just go so to make some of the shooters feel better about their scores.
Sort of like, gee, I am not to bad, did you see that old guy shoot.
lol, but it is fun.
Actually I shoot a Beretta sport carbine (from their Olympia family),
or a Marlin 25.
Would be nice to shoot a Annie.
