Just a simple question, why a .25 caliber ?

Basically, for the extra punch when hunting squirrels.

I was just wondering because the .20 caliber beats the .25 in all catagories.

I think I got this from Theobens website I can't rember. I was looking up specs and stuff for my .177 shadow before I rebarreled it to .20 caliber..  This is why I wanted to go with a .20 cal rifle.

...not quite in all categories...look at the chart...tbe .25 has higher starting energy, and how long the projectile keeps that energy is a feature of the specific pellet's B.C. then the  caliber.

with a 35 gram pellet, let me know... :) That is on my wish list as well... Prefer no recoil if possible . he he he

Your answer is correct too when looking at the chart. It is like a give and take thingy and pellet wt plays a big part.

My Hunter 1250 .22 is very powerful and would like to see what the FPS would be at various distances. I do know that it packs a puch even at 80 yards. Puts Superdomes through 5/8 plywood at that distance.. But not very good groups...:)

I would like a .20 Cal in my collection but have not found the right combination yet.

True but all the pellets listed are round nose pellets.  So the B/C. can't to much different. other than the size of the .25 pushing  is self through the wind.

The .25 lost almost half it's energy at 50 yards but the 20 cal lost only a little over two pounds of energy at the same distance. The .20 has more energy at 50 yards than the .25 has at 50 yards.

At 100 yards the .25 has lost over 3/4's of it's energy, and the .20 has lost less than half.

The velocitys are a drastic difference too, the .25 lost 400fps. and the .20 lost only 220 fps.

The .25 is dropping like a rock after 50 yards by looking at the velocities.

I know that the .20 caliber Shadow I re-barreled is shooting 11.2 FTS's at an average of  820 fps and it's a killer at 50 yards, Shoots 14.3 CP's at just under 700 fps.

But the FTS's shoot a lot flatter and hit harder at 50 yards, at least by looking at how deep the imbed themselfs into a 4X4.
