: My First Impression of the CZ Slavia 634
: Gene_SC October 09, 2007, 09:23:10 AM

I ordered it yesterday morning and got it this afternoon. Opened the box and at first I had my doubts about fit and finish. After I got it out of the plastic liner I was very pleased with the finish on the barrel and stock. I took it outside on the patio and gave her a good look see. My impression is that this is a well made gun on the outside. Wood is good and blueing is excellent. The iron sites are superb as well. Shoved a Gamo Hunter .177 round nose down its throat and sat and looked for something to shoot at on the side of the property. Spotted a red coke can someone tossed next to the bushes. I normally do all my shooting from a bench but I was just sitting in a patio chair at the moment with a tin of Gamo pellets on the table. First shot hit right where I aimed for in the middle of the can. The can was approximately 30 yards or so out. Loaded up another, aimed and fired. Again I nailed the can somewhere in the middle of it. I continued through about twenty pellets and did not miss one.. lol At this point I am almost wetting my pants and had not put my Depends on this morning after my shower..:) As far as accuracy it is excellent out of the box. Another thing surprised me was that there was no smoke from the breach or barrel which most other new air rifles have initially.

This gun cocks like cutting through butter. It does have a slight amount of twang and of course some spring noise. But not as bad as many new air rifles I have purchased. It has an odd safety on the underside of the barrel which you have to pull in order to cock it. There is a 1/4" round pin that comes out the back of the action which is the safety. The trigger is a bit mushy but not real hard to pull. That will be addressed in my next review after it has been completely tuned.
It seems to weight around 6 1/2 lbs. This CZ 634 will be a keeper for sure. I can't wait to scope it and check it out on some paper. Not to concerned about FPS because I will only use this one for targets. Now I am gonna hit the button tonight on the HW 50s and hope I get the same impression when it arrives...:)

Hey Gene, I had a feeling you'd like that little Czeck girl. They're shooters for sure and not bad one the eyes either . I think the guy at the gunshop needs to give me a little discount on my next one , I think I sold a few for him. hehe Can't wait to see what you do with her to quiet her down a little with the spring twang. kriby

Your bad Gene, very bad. I have been thinking about gettin futher in the doghouse and here you go and find something that is accurate and no diesiling out of the box. My doghouse is already in the vaccant lot out back, guess I'll get it moved a few blocks down the road, hehe.
Thanks, Mike

LOL Mike, Well Kirby started all this about the CZ..:) It really is a fine air rifle for the money. Definetly a keeper and in my first impression it is definetly accurate. I normally never even count using iron sights to judge accuracy but this blew me away..:) Ya David you really need to hit ol Phil up at the gun shop up for a discount..:) And when I talked to him he told me these were all he would probably get and CZ just gave him the offer to buy what they had and no other dealers were included. Gene

PS

Oh ya David, I am gonna see about getting it all tuned up this week if I get time. And Mike, I hear they are selling dog house central air and heat units on sale at Pets R US...:)

Fun to get a rifle that just shoots without a lot of fuss. I have a couple of Czech powderburners, great guns.
