I recently justified the purchase of another pistol.
No not another Crosman 22xx but sort of.
Like the 22xx It's made by Crosman but comes from the factory without the need for an after purchase steel breach. (it kinda has one, it's brass and built in) and with wood grips.
For me they're 2 have to haves when buying a 22xx at an extra cost of around $70-80.00. (see where I'm going with the justification process?)
It's a classy gun through and through.
On the box specs are strange. They list specs for EB20 & EB17 yet this is an EB22??
It's 1lb 14oz.
11.25" OAL
7.25" Rifled steel barrel.
and rated for 500 fps in .17 and 425 fps in .20
I wish I ran it across the chrony before I impatiently tore into it...
Internals are similar and in some ways exact to the Crosman 22xx series so modifying it was pretty straight forward. I put a lighter spring in and angle drilled or dremeled the exhaust port then filed the piercing pin a bit.
It worked out to be a tad over 500 fps with average pellets a little more or less with weight. (very happy for a c02 .22)
Out of the box it feels powerful and has a nice loud thud to it when fired.
Although not ergonomically perfect it's comfortable enough and pretty well balanced.
Again it's not as supported as the 22xx's but that doesn't mean you cant pretty it up a little more.
It comes a good looking black with dark stained wood grips and a chrome trigger and breach bolt. But I knew that there is a bunch of brass under the black so I had at it.
Again, more work than I thought but I'm fairly happy with how it came out.
What's a collection without a Benjamin EB22.

Good review..There aren't too many out there about the Benjamin/Sheridan E series pistols.
I' got two of them a Sheridan E in Nickle .20cal, and a Benjamin/Crosman E Nickle .177. I found they both responded well to JSB's, and good trigger go-over..I haven't gotten into the valves as yet, but 500fps is pretty good for that little gun, so now that I know whats available I'll have to get into them soon.

Thanks Mike I'm interested, but, if requires replacing the grips that kind of messes with my fuzzy logic justification I used when buying the gun.

I got one of these a few months back. I really like the "collectable" part of these guns and haven't even shot mine. I did however make a nice set of highly figured walnut grips for mine with a similar fit as the standard ones.
How do you go about taking out the valve in these things? Mine has a leaky powerlet seal and I haven't wanted to pull it apart without any real direction.....did ya buy a tool from B&A or did you find something in your shot that worked?

No special tool needed.
Accept maybe a really long screwdriver. Once both ends are off the body and the hand grip/trigger frame is removed by the two screws the valve assy slides out. It's held in by one of the screws that hold the handgrip frame to the body. No surprises here.
. Mine had a leaky valve also which probably prompted me to tear it down to begin with....

For some reason I thought you had to at least partially unscrew the valve halves before sliding the valve out? Actually wasn't even sure that the whole valve came out, thought it stayed partially inside the tube because of the transfer port......huhm, guess this is the second time in life I have been wrong......ok, maybe the third time:)
Still in California visiting my family for the Holidays, it'll be another week before I am back in Texas where I can try to disasemble the little beastie again.
