For a couple weeks now a hand full of us older members of the GTA have been missing someone. We have asked each other through different PM's about where Ed aka Shadow has been hiding. We all assumed he has been busy with his new job. For some of you that do not know Ed, he is one of the original members of the GTA. Has supported us and made hundreds and hundreds of contribution through post andsharing hisknowledgeand skills that he knows with others. He has shared with all of us from the beginning.
I finally made contact with Ed today. It turns out he has been suffering from some very severe headache's since his move to Michigan last month. So these headache's have pretty much laid Ed up. You have to know Ed to know that he stays busy constantly hunting an working on his babies in his shop. Well that has not been the case in the last month. Between the headaches and work he has been pretty laid up. Not much time hunting or time spent on the GTA.
Ed did not want to complain and held off going to the doctor until his wife insisted. After all the blood work and scan's it seems that Ed has a golf ball size tumor in his brain on the front right side. Ed will go for his first treatment of radiation on Monday and continue with this treatment until the tumor is gone. I just want to say that Ed has become a very close friend of mine and many other's here on the GTA. I hope you all find it in your heart to pray for Ed and a speedy recovery. He is a big part of the GTA family. He has a fantastic optimistic attitude and says this is just another bump in the road... He just wants to keep doing his thing, which is hunting and air guns.
Please say a prayer for Ed..........
Gene
-
All of our thoughts and prayers are with you, Ed. May God grant you a good response to the treatments and a speedy recovery.

Well god works in some weird ways. Forcing Ed to move brought this to a head to be delt with. I will keep him and his family in my prayers. :0
-
Prayers are up for Ed, his family and friends. Hang in there.
-
Maybe the move was to be near that special doctor that's going to be the one that with Prayers and God's help, will help our friend through this. I believe there's a reason for everything in our lives. kirby

ED,My prayers & thoughts are with you,I pray a speedy recovery for you,GTA is not the same without you here with us....GET WELL SOON MY FRIEND.....

I thank you all for your prayers and kind word's and I've never been one to let on that I had a med problem but wanted to let my Good friend Gene know why I've been hit and miss on the forum. The headaches would get so bad that I couldn't focus on just about anything for to long . I'm still working, hour's cut back and still working on and shootin my babies of coarse lol. I have been hunting some to and sitting on my deck and plucking grackles out by the slew in my backyard hehehe. I would have posted some pic's but the sucker's are dropping into the slew of water from the tree's and like I told Gene " I'm not fishin em out". hehehe. Anyway I will be in a out patient theripy and they will start zapping the ol fusebox with small doses but I'm on top of my attitude and as alway's for me it's mind over matter or don't be the problem, be the cure and God has alway's been there for little ol me and nothing's changed. :) Again I thank you all, my GTA FAMILY and you all have been family from the moment you joined our GREAT FORUM! :) oh and I'm not going ANYWHERE! HEHEHE I will still be on, may be slow at times but will be here and I will still hunt. Didn't expect anything less did you hehehe can't keep me down for long, moving forward alway's. Ed

You all are one of a kind, thank's so much. I spent half of the day resighting in all my babies and wipping em down. The rain set in right before I wanted to head out for a short hunt and the head started pound some so ended up napping like my buddy Gene zzzzzzzzzzzz lol. Ed
-
Naps are good! Rain is good as well (great for naps!) The sun will shine soon for you my Friend!! Keep shooting Buddy, Good for the soul! Tim.
-
Ed, I always seem to be on the tail-end of hearing about these things, but you know we're all rootin' for you. You also know there is a plan, no matter whether or not we know what it is. Just keep the faith, and keep on shootin'; that should go a long way to keepin' the right atitude ;~)

About "5" years ago while out riding my motorcycle I was hit by a truck, minor accident but I had to go to shock trauma, when the got my CAT SCAN back they found a brain tumor the size of a lemon on my pituitary gland they told me I would not live another year; Since then I have live life like theres no tomorrow and the sport of airgunning has helped me to find a great hobby and friends. I tell this story to say to you ED that only GOD knows his reasons for putting weight on your shoulders but I assure you he always has a great plan.
BE WELL AND YOU HAVE FAMILY HERE! PRAYERS AND WISH'S TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

Mike
-
Well after hour's of prep, you all know how it go's at the doc's we started the battle and right now I'm draggin and tired but hehehe still kicking. I take no prisoner's lol and I told the doc when this is all done I'm taking him hunting......with airgun's. :o You can hunt with airgun's he replied?. I told him when he has time check out our sight and that will give you a feel about what I'm al about and see my GTA family. I'll keep bugging him about it hehehe. Anyway the skull and crossbones flag is up and taking the wind nicely and each day will keep getting better and better. Funny though a man of the cloth was making his round's and chatted with me a spell. He asked me if I had found Jesus, I told him that I never lost him hehehe. He just smiled said a prayer and was on his way, all in a day's work lol. Ed
-
That's the spirit buddy...:)
Gene

Hey Ed, glad to hear your spirits are up and strong. The family and I will be keeping you and yours in our prayers. Thank's GTA family and I still am on the hunt but I havent been called out on varment patrol lately.:( Seen a possum (country rat) the other night but he caught wind of me out on my deck and moved it out. Red squirrels and g-squirrels are in season but nothing but fox squirrels and their leaving my feeders alone and are not in season, bummer lol. Just dropping Grackles in the slew out back but I need to hire a kid to fish em out hehehe. Ed

-
Ed,
Lots of corny jokes on this post string (we are men) but I do not think there is another special interest forum that has as many men and women as this one that will stop to tell a friend that they are willing and eager to offer prayer for one of our own. May the good Lord work a 100% healing in your life and keep us in "Air Gun Fellowship" for many years to come.
Pastor Bob Jarrard (PBJ on the GTA)

The closeness of this forum is a gift from the Lord and I know that this forum will rise above all other's, just my belief hehehe but I thank you all for the support, my family .Between the Lord and this forum and my loving wife and family I am truly a lucky guy. Today was another day at the doc's with another season of treatment's, slow but were gonna be the predator not the prey. :) I will be around here and giving you some hunt's in no time. :) As alway's mind over matter and all is Zen. Ed

Prayers aren't my way, but know you will be in my thoughts. I lost my father to a glioma a year and a half ago, after a long fight. Reading Gene's words brought back alot of memories of that first day in the neuro ward, lookin' at MRI's. Dad was quite profoundly ill before the discovery was made 60mm diameter.... I'm glad yours was caught earlier, it really helps the odds.
Family and friends are gifts at times like these, and it looks like you're wealthy in that respect.
Good luck, hope you're back to full strenght soon.
J
-
Hey Shadow!! With God on your side,[ and he is] and your attitude, you CANT lose!!! I miss your hunts, man. They inspire me.
-
Ed, I have noticed for some time now that the spirit of the folks on this forum is very different from other forums. Now I know why. True faith is what God gives us in order to prepare us for the difficult things that we have to deal with in this life, and to prepare us for the next. A community of faithful people is what He gives to those that are going through difficult things. I'm glad for you and me and all the others here that share true faith, and I hope that through this forum others will begin to see what it means to have it. It seems like foolishness to a lot of people, but we know that it's not.
Your perseverance in these times are a great encouragement to me and many others. While writing this I stopped to ask God to heal you, and to be with you throughout.
Tommy
-
Thank's Tommy and Vinny, my belief in a higher power combined with the power of a man's or woman's inner strength can lift one up beyond what thought possable. I use these belief's in every aspect of my life including hunting, find that happy place, peace of mind ,karma or as I say find your Zen. :) Let the mind rise above the matter, the Lord already know's your need's and alway's provides. I did spend the day getting some test done, checking the chassie so to speak hehehe, running strong and should be seeing some result's here in a spell. Kinda weakish at times, tired and we know what's to come with this treatment but I've never been one to just roll over except when hunting and setting up for a second shot :) Ed
-
Tonight I will say a special prayer for Ed and ask the Lord to help him to recover.I hate these kind of posts. To me there are a bunch of special people on air gun forums. We stick together like glue and all enjoy a very special sport.
Some say were a bunch of kids that never grew up.Others will tease you about your air gun and tell you to get real gun and buy a powder burner.( I just laugh it off)
When ever a fellow like Shadow who has put forth his very best to and for all of us has it is a shame to hear of some sort of problem that could take down one of the best and one of our own.
Again I will say a special prayer for a fellow Air Gunner and his family as if he were one of my own family.
May my prayers be heard

Thank you Robert and it seem's that a few of us are getting tested, forum member's and their friend's and family. I've alway's liked a challege and this is just another one to test my iron so I load up and grit my teeth and as they say Once more into the breach men and ladies for our great female member's., flag's a flying and gun's a blazin. Ed
-
You're in my prayers, Ed. I think about you every time I shoot my B3s or my QB57. I'm rooting for you.
-
Ed, I had to laugh at your "I never lost him" reply. That was good. I bet he hasn't heard that one before. I'm pulling for ya, airbud. My mom was diagnosed with late stage three breast cancer back in '06. She went through chemo, radical mastectomy, and more chemo. She has her hair back, and she's still with us. Cancer free, so far. Your positive attitude and will to live/win will go a long way.
"Never give up. Never surrender."
-
Strangely, I can relate. On January 21st, 2006, a 7mm lesion burst on my left temporal lobe. I too was getting headaches and a little delerious. I certainly do wish Ed the very best of a recovery. I have since had very little problems despite having become epileptic as a result. Ed- you do have my prayers. Hang in there buddy!
-
Thank you and all is going very well and I'm sorry if I've missed PM'S it's not my nature, Gene is my friend and I consider him and Bob like my other Dad's so buddies if I haven't PM'd forgive me I'm hanging strong and giving em all they can take including the doc's lol. Just awhile longer on this battle field and when I win I'll be back. Don't think I'm not hunting, just finding the Zen moment's as always'.:) God Bless GTA and every member. Ed
-
It's GREAT to hear your doing so well Ed,
We are ALL routing for you buddy !!!!! God hears and answers ALL Prayers ! Just keep on being YOU :-)
Keeping you and the others in need here in my Prayers !
-
Glad to hear you're doing well buddy. :) I've been saying a prayer for you each night and will continue to do so.... I have no doubt you'll be back to your old routine in no time. Keep hanging tough buddy....

The varment are thinkin the hunter is down , just another CAMO tactic lol :D Thank's family.Ed
-
Hope you get well soon Ed. That varmint population spreads like wildfires!
-
Send out a prayer for you brother. My Dad had lymphoma in the mid '80s, he kicked it because he was strong willed (hard headed!). Thru all the chemo and everything, he thought of 2 things; golf and work! Crazy but it worked! Keep your mind strong and your will stronger and you can make it thru these difficult times with the grace of the Allmighty. Stubborn and ornery live forever! Aloha Brother!
-
Thank's, been kinda down on the energy level the past few day's but pushin forward. :)
-
Glad to hear it Shadow. My dad has been down in the dumps cause today he had to meet with the surgon to schedule a surgery date. Our schedules are so different now we haven't fished in forever. Keep up the good fight and I think the brown santa is heading your way. :-)
-
Grit your teeth and push ahead against all odd's, it scare's the heck out of the unbelieving hehehe. Ed
-
Keep the FAITH BUDDY !!!
Stay strong, know that we are PRAYING for U each day !
Fight the HARD FIGHT BUDDY, and keep moving FORWARD !
Bill
-
thank's Bill, hard against the wind. :) Ed
-
You have some GREAT SPIRIT Ed... Keep it up buddy and you will get past the hump real fast.
Your Bud
Gene
-
Jeez, Ed, I haven't been in the habit of reading the back room and was unaware of your latest challenge. You are a real asset and inspiration to the many of us who are learning. We are with you.
I am from Michigan and still love it there. A real hunting and fishing paradise that I took for granted... until I moved west. I guess you have had a rough intro, but I left a lot of unsupervised critters behind, and they are going to need you!
-
Still kicking hard and looking to bright tommorrow as alway's. :) Ed
-
Hey Gene, why not change the header or whatever we call this thread to a subject line that fits Ed's great attitude and all our prayers and thoughts for him over these past weeks? I believe that he is going to be healed, he is just too plain old tough to keep down and we have about 12 tons of prayer out there already. Being sick is a bummer but having no friends, no support team and no faith is worse. If faith and friends are what it takes for healing, Da Shadow will be back in full form for sure. Thanks for reading this.
-
Amen Bob,
I gave it a shot, but some went back to the negative header.
With all the support here for Ed, and how well he seems to be doing, I need to see positive Che !
-
Father, You have brought us this far caring for each as Your own child.
You have helped us view the facts, keeping our lives peaceful and mild.
There are so many things that disturb us, and many thing that are not as we wish or desire.
Lord we try to live each and every day in faith, keeping our heads up.
Each day is a new day, to start afresh, and giving You thanks for the blessings received. AMEN
-
AMEN BROTHER. :)
-
Hi, Ed. So sorry to hear the news. I've been off forum for a while dealing with some things of my own and am sorry I missed this a month ago. I even missed your moving to Mich. I'm glad to see you still have your great attitude. That, along with the wishes, hopes and prayers of loved ones and friends, can do miracles. You were there for me and mine last spring throughout Eric's illness and recovery, as were so many of the GTA Family; know that I will be pulling for you just the same. Prayers for you and your's and all those associated with your treatment.
