Mine was pinned in also, right were yours was. I recently took apart a Walmart special Sierra Pro and shortened the barrel, to 12 1/2". Really tightened up the groups . I then re-crowned it and glue the front sight back on. Gun handles like a Remington 700 carbine now. The guy I traded it to, with absolutely loves the gun. I love the old Crosman 1400 as I got for part of the trade. Watched him deck a flower pot raiding chipmunk with it last saturday afternoon. Wish I saw this post the other day , maybe I could have helped.

As an aside on my above post. As Fix said, I also found that the Walmart Sierra 's to be of poorer QC than CrosmanG-1's . It has a nice look, and the stock they supply makes the gun handle better than ,say the Storm, and a better scope and mount, but that's it. In fact I bought mine just to get the scope, as they had them on clearance. I originally shortened the barrel as a learning experiment, and in hopes of improving hold sensitifity. Got a suprise when I removed the front sight though. I found that the end of the barrel was slightly distorted from the knurling, they put on the end to mount the sight. Also the bushing in the barrel pivot was to long by four or five thou. among other things. It was a sucessful operation though as mentioned. The gun became more consistant in grouping and much less hold sensitive after alteration , and I learned some more things. Still like my G-1's better.
