: My New QB 78
: October 01, 2006, 08:21:02 AM
Now I can tell all about my new .22 calibre QB78, bought a month ago, my boyfriend (IJL on here) finally took it back to his den in Northamptonshire last week and started sorting it. Now he's brought it back and what a difference!
Firstly the look of the wood, all shiny, almost like it's French polished and the grain really shows through well. The picture does not do this wood justice!
Not a mark on the metalwork that has not been re-blued, even where he has worked on it.
The bolt moves so easily now, I cannot manage a stiff bolt but this will be no problem.
Shooting it, the trigger is light, crisp and very predictable.
Power? Well we are legally limited to 12 foot pounds and this is peaking at 11.4 using Bisley Magnums, close enough!
Funnily enough the BSA Interceptor hollow points are only 15.4gn but it shoots those consistently at 11.3 foot pounds as well and with superb accuracy. The gun is so much better than me, he shot groups in my garden earlier which look like a small 4 leafed clover with eight rounds through! and I'm the ex military with the crossed rifles! (Yes women can shoot too!)
I haven't had to change the powerlets yet but he assures me it will do 50+ up to the limit shots before the power starts to drop.
Well what can I say? Good looking, powerful and economical, just like the rifle ;)

Seriously, I just wanted to say right here "thank you Ian". This is a beautiful little rifle and now I will treasure it all the more. Also a big thanks to Mike, you know who you are, I've been copied on all the emails and know how much support you have given him on this. x

WOW! That is sweet. Very nice job on the finish. Thats a keeper.. he he  And you use iron sites also. That is great. You must be a great shot. Ian better watchout...:) So when are you going to start competing..:)

Gene, she is a good shot but like me prefers a scope. The iron sights will have to stay until I get back up there to transfer the Tasco from her beloved Superstar.

Thanks for bringing Chrissyian to our forum. It is fantastic to have a member of the opposite sex here posting. Wish we had more. I bet she is a great shot.. I used to snipe in VietNam and along the Cambodian, and Laos borders. I heard  there was a female sniper who worked the southern end of Cambodia about 25 clicks from where I used to post. Heard she was a dead eye. Never missed a shot.  Can't say the same for me though.. he he he

Of course that was when we had good eyes and nerves of steel.. he he he

So you better watch out Ian..:)

Thats ok but  you don't have to give your age away.. he he. The tired eyes come wiff da territory..:) Thank God for scopes.. ha ha

After Ian comes to put the scope on post another picture please. Your QB is very very nice.

Thanks again for sharing.

Hey, Chrissy, that's cheating! That's the pic I took to send you before I brought it back, with my AO scope for some testing and my foot at the bottom of the pic!
:)
Your scope is much bigger than mine, well they do say size matters, I say it's what u do with it that counts! AND I am still talking about scopes!!

:)
