Can anyone here offer some advice as to my next camera to buy?
Some criteria to be met.
-Simple point and shoot capability
-Must take pictures QUICKLY
-5 MP or better
-Be somewhat affordable...no more than $300
-Most important thing for me...takes pictures FAST, I hate the lag of digital cameras.

I honestly could not say. I have not really found a point and shoot that has a quick shutter which is why I shoot SLR & DSLR. I have shot a couple of point and shoots that are nice. Canon is the leader in digital photography so anything from them would probably suite your needs. I think Canon's latest p&s like I have is the S5si or S7si. I have an S2 which is 5M. Good luck in your search wish I could be of more help

Joe check out this site they have pretty honest reviews and have been a lot of help to me . I am no pro but if you pick out a couple of cameras I will but my two cents in if I know any thing about them . Kodak has some good lower priced cameras out right know . There is a big jump in what you get from $ 300.00 to $ 400.00 I might add . Its like air rifles in a away. Right now I have a Cannon S 5 IS that I like but before this I had a Kodak P850 that I wore out and I almost replaced it with another Kodak but they do not offer a high number aperture which I need for some on my shots .But they probably will have what you want . Cannon also has some moderately priced rigs as well. Let me know if you need any more help. Also this sight has a lot of camera info and terminology as well .Marvin
