Chronograph which one/

What would be a recommendation for a cost effective chronograph?  Any and all feedback welcome.  Thanks!

There has been allot of posts about chronograph's Try doing a search on chrony or chronograph.

It seems the F-1 is the cheapest and I think you will find a place to buy it within past posts. I have an F-1 and it works fine for me. Occasionally testing my air rifles for average deviations.

What part of Seattle are you in?  I grew up there, but live in the best place in the state now :-).  Re: chronys, I have a Chrony Beta and I really like it.  Cost was $100 from Pyramyd Air.  The 60 shot memory is a nice feature, but I wish it was bigger.  I may upgrade to the 1000 shot memory, it's only about $15.  Downside is, it has to go back to Shooting Chrony for the upgrade.  That said, I first used an Alpha Master, and it was more than adequate for what I needed.  The Master is the same unit, but with a remote and 15 feet of cable.  Hope this helps.

Okay, I'll bite, where are you located?  I'm in Woodinville, a suburb about 25 miles NE of downtown Seattle.

Re the chrony: Since I'm just getting started in serious airgunning, I'm looking for something that I can use to get stats on my current long time plinking gun - Crosman 760 - and the chinese rifle I'm planning on getting and working on, that won't cost me and arm and a leg.  Don't need a Cadillac or Lincoln model, a good used Chevy model will do.

I assume the shot memory allows you to log consecutive shots without resetting the unit and then just call up the results afterward?

Should have thought of this sooner, here's the link to Shooting Chrony  http://www.shootingchrony.com/products_NEW.htm  .  This has all the info on the various models, as well as pricing if you want to purchase direct.  Don't think you'll save anything that way, but sometimes it's nice dealing direct with the manufacturer.

Yes, the memory allows you to save and call up the data later.  Default setup is 6 strings of 10 shots each.  Best thing about the Beta and Gamma is you can save your data, shut the Chrony off, then recall everything once you get back to your desk or shop.  You can also download direct to a computer with additional parts and software.  As I recall, the Alpha and F1 have a single string of up to 32 (?) shots, but all your data is erased when you turn off the Chrony.  But check out the web site, all the info is there.

I know Woodinville well, wired more than a few houses there over the years.  Lived in the Lynnwood/ S. Everett area before moving to Twisp in '99.  Twisp is in the Methow Valley, on Hwy 20, which is the North Cascades Highway.  It's about 10 miles south of Winthrop, and about a 250 mile drive to Seattle.  If you're into cross country skiing, this is THE place, we have one of the largest X-country trails systems in the country.  If you head this way, drop me a line.

Thanks to the people who gave me feedback on this.  With Gene's encouragement I finally figured out how to do the correct search on the past postings (DOH!) for chronograph info.  CDT had some really good insights as well as other members of the group.

I appreciate your patience with a "newbie" here on the boards.

I know Twisp - a friend of mine, Mike McIntyre, retired and moved to Winthrop about five or six years ago and had a bicycle shop out of his shop and garage.  He and his wife jennifer moved to Wenatchee about a year ago (got tired of the hour and a half drive to do major shopping), but we used to drive through Twisp all the time.

In fact we made it a point to stop at the Cinnamon Twisp Bakery every time we went through - Jennifer McIntyre used to work there and we would stop in to say HI ( and get a cinnamon roll of course! ;-).

Next time we're over I'll get in touch through the board here.
