This is a simple recrown mod. I have been using on my rifles it is a variation of the gunsmith's recrown tools by using a countersink putting a brass or wool dowel in place of a the drill or the ball bearing recrown mod. I'm using a # 7 countersink for the 177 cal and a # 14 countersink for 22 cal the best way to check what will be best is to take your drill index ( drill set) and try the drills in the bore shank first to see the dia. you need than you will know what counter sink to buy , my counter sinks are the same as in the mc master catalog .I got mine when makeing cabinets for pluging cabinets . I have used this countersinks on SS ,wood, fiberglass, and plastic they can be resharpened by putting the drill bit in backward and refaceing the cutting edge on a bench grinder. Here is a other option if you have a dremal tool you can also use a round grind stone ( ball shape) in your dremal it gives the same type of crown that you would get using a ball bearing and compound. After cutting the crown I either use a piece of sand paper rolled into a cone and just touch up the id of the crown for any burr's or you can use a swiss file ( a round one ) in backwards cutting on the pull out just lightly to remove any burr's. howie
