which would be better
« on: October 03, 2008, 05:54:14 PM »
for hunting squirrels, benjamin 392, or 397.If I were an accurate shooter, say to 40 yards, which would be better? I know fps isnt all there is to it. I know .22 transfers more energy. The 392  just seems a little low in power to me for hunting, but the energy transfer probably makes up for it. I like .22 airguns, and am leaning towards the 392, but I want to get the right gun for the job. [ cause I would hate to have to get them both! when funds allow it. ] HELP, PLEASE.

Either one should do well but the 392 has plenty of power given the proper distance.  I wouldn't be using either gun for 40yd shots though.  Inside 30yds it should be ok.

You have plenty of squirrel guns, the CFX, the Viper, etc.  I prefer springers over pumpers.  Pumping scares all the critters away or lets them know where you are or that you 're coming.
Springers:
Diana 36 .177
Diana 350 .22 (donated by Timmy!)
Diana 350 .177
PCP\'s:
Air Force Condor .22 (Airhog)
Air Force Condor .25 (Talon Tunes)
Air Force Condor .25 (Lemak)
CO2/Pump:
RWS Hammerli 850 .22
Crosman 2240 Custom .22
A few Crosman pumpers .177
