Talontunes Talon
« on: December 06, 2008, 02:27:42 AM »
I finally got a chance to get out and plink around with my Talon. I set up the silent box at 30 yards and sat down for a quick little shooting session. I have only 3 different types of pellets to chose from. I bought four tins of EunJins 28 gr. beacause I read how much the Talons and Condors like them. My Talon doesn't like them at all. They wouldn't group Any better than an 2 inches from 30 yards?!?!  So I pulled out the Kodiaks really curious to see if they would shoot well. All five shots made a dime size group. Sweet. Then I switched over to a tin of Superdomes that I had bought thinking they were .177. I got home and noticed they were .22, so I had to buy a .22 to use them.HEHE  Moved to a different bull, and let the first Superdomes fly. Whack dead center bull, and the other four were pretty much on to of the first. I could take a dime and set it over the POI and you wouldn't see a tare.

I was surprised that the Kodiaks and the Superdomes performed almost the same. I didn't have to adjust the scope from one to the other. Sweet!!! This gun shoots much better than I can. When I look threw the scope those cross-hairs are all over the bull. In the right hands this thing would be oneholers all day.

Sounds like you got that shooter dialed in good.  I was also surprised to hear that the superdomes grouped like the Kodiaks,,,,, I wouldn't have expected that either.......

Good to hear you like your gun!  My gun shoot EJ pellets well, but it is the LW barrels that can either like the EJ pellets or hate them.  Mine shoots kodiaks and predators best, but I need to get some superdomes and try them.

Also, about the POI you mentioned, my condor is sighted in for 950fps with kodiaks at 20 yards.  At 65 yards, it is shooting 1 mildot HIGH, weird isn't it?

I really wish mine liked the EJ pellets. Since she likes the Kodiaks I guess the knockdown power is still there. I have yet to find any .22 predators locally, so have not had a chance to try them yet.

So you have to hold one mil-dot low at 65 yards? WOW that is some power.

Joe, are those hollow points or domes? I just picked up a tin of Predators, and cant wait to see how the perform. The weather here has been horrible the past week. Winds gusting to 70+, and snow with wind chills in the -30's. Cant wait for better weather.

Actually, it shoots 1 mil-dot HIGH, not low.  So I have to aim low to hit what I am aiming at at 65 yards, pretty impressive isn't it?  At 100 yards it is dead on again.  I could probably nail a squirrel at 100 yards if one happend to be around.

Sam, I had my gun sighted in for 20 yards.  So shooting 1 mil-dot high (14x zoom on leapers scope) is pretty impressive IMO.  Try the new pointed eun jin pellets, they are 32gr. and mine really likes them.  Also there are big boy predator pellets that weight 26gr.
